Casino Host Question
 

I've got a question about casino hosts. I have hosts at the Cosmo, Revel and an Mlife casinos from different trips to LV and AC. The hosts are great for getting free rooms when I want them, but I've never really called them for anything else. Just curious to know what some reasonable requests are from a casino hosts. I'm sure play matters when defining what is "reasonable" -- and mine varies a bit, but let's say I average around $150/roll in craps. Any thoughts on what I could be calling these people for?

The first thing I would ask for is that your room stay is coded "RFB" so you can sign restaurant meals to your room and they will be comped. If you can get that without much resistance, I would add a request for a transportation reimbursement, where they give you a cash payment at the cage in the amount of your round trip airfare. I would not ask for this first, since it is much easier for the host to give you restaurant $$ than actual cash $$.

+1 I'd go for RFB first. If you are the type of person to relax at the pool then I'd ask for a comped cabana...

if you are averaging 150 a roll in craps you should be able to get RFB easily

when you say 150, are you talking on the numbers ? so say a 10 dollars table you are putting what $25 on each $ and pass line $ too ?

How long do you play for.....

Its better to pay 75 a hand for 8 hours than 150 for 3 hours

Not sure if my average is $150, or maybe something higher.

My level changes up and down, but I'd average ~4 hours a day, $60 DP bet, $30 DC and $45 DC with single odds 50% of the time. Occasionally some lay bets.

Deck: Best way to do it is this.....

After you play a session, ask the pitboss what you got rated at... he will say you had 4 hours at $60 a hand

the other week i had 8 hours at 55 a hand and i said no no i was playing all the numbers, and he bumped me to $65

Not sure where you are staying, but you are going to have to go in heavier than $150/roll to get full RFB. At the Palazzo you need to be playing $1,500/roll in order to reach RFB. If you are already getting comped the room, you are going to need to go a lot heavier than $150 to see much else.

As other things to ask for, I request limousine transportation to and from the airport and anywhere else we may want to go with a reasonable notice; room upgrades beyond the standard "comped" room (suites, pents, etc.); tickets to a show; match play credits or promotional chips; champagne; spa services; cabanas as someone mentioned; airfare; really anything that the hotel offers as a service is in play. If you play big bucks, nothing is outside of reason. Always try to be fair about your requests and do it with a smile.

One thing craps players need to remember is that they aren't rated on their odds bets since the casino doesn't have an advantages. I would definitely clarify with the floor supervisor what they rate you after each session.

While this is true at most of the strip casinos, it's not true at all of the casino's in LV. All of the Station casinos I've played at INCLUDE odds bets as a part of the total average bet per hour. MGM used to include odds bets, but that was a long time ago and I don't play there anymore. Never assume anything - ask the pit boss and find out.

If a casino counts the odds in the rating (at craps), then their comp criteria (or, what they give you back as a % of your action) tends to be less (sometimes significantly). Of course, as with everything, YMMV.

Baccarat King is exactly right. Vegas comps are based on "hypothetical loss". It generally makes no difference if they include odds bets or not, because as the King said, the % is lower.

Hypothetical Loss = (((Average Bet) * (Average # of decisions per hour)) / House Edge of Game Played) * # of Hours Played

If they include odds bets into that equation, it does one of two things in the eyes of the casino: (1) they reduce the house edge figure on the game to represent the adjusted/reduced house edge as a result of including 0 edge odds, OR (2) they reduce the % of the hypothetical loss they are willing to give back to the player in the form of comps.

Generally, most casinos give back 30-40% of the Hypothetical loss. If you think of it in terms on room/food comps, this is why it feels like you are "getting more" at the lower end resorts because their rooms/food cost less. In general, however, all casinos use the same comp parameters.
