Any Experience Cancelling Comped Rooms at PH

Had a 2 night stay booked at Planet Hollywood booked on the website under my Diamond TR login and the rooms came up as comp with Deposit $0.

Had to cancel 60hrs prior to 4pm on arrival date and have been charged $90 to my Amex Card.

The cancellation policy was listed as:

PLANET HOLLYWOOD RESORT & CASINO LAS VEGAS CANCELLATION POLICY
A 72-hour cancellation notice is required prior to your arrival date to receive a refund of your deposit. If you cancel within 72 hours, including reservations made within 3 days of your arrival, you will be charged the 1st night's room rate and tax. For Total Rewards customers, this amount will be deducted from your Total Rewards account.

Where in that policy does it say that with a $0 room rate my credit card will be charged $90 if I cancel within 72hrs of arrival? Accounting mistake or dyslexia on my part?

In my personal experience, you shouldn't have an issue.

I have cancelled many COMP TR (CET) rooms less than 72 hours in advance; and have never had a charge. Also, in almost all cases you can cancel online; though, I have also done it over the phone.

I have cancelled comped rooms as late as 24-hours prior at Flamingo (another Caesars property) by phone and was not charged anything. However, the cancellations have always been due to illnesses (child's or mine) or emergencies. I would give them a call, especially if you have a casino host, and explain why you cancelled and ask for a refund of any charges.
