Mlife Platinum for $2666.66

It takes 200,000 tier credits to achieve Platinum status in Mlife. They offer 25-tier-credits-per-dollar for non-gaming purchases at their properties. I recently got a (targeted) e-mail from them offering me THREE TIMES tier credits during the last 4 days this month in Las Vegas. I called them to confirm. They said "yes. ALL tier credits you earn are TRIPLED on those dates and that includes three times the usual 25-tier-credits-per-dollar for non-gaming purchases." I specifically asked..."so...SEVENTY-FIVE tier credits per dollar on those dates?!" They said yes.

I learned they have offered this targeted promotion previously too. I know of someone who was offered this deal for 23(!) days last February. This is the first time though that the "3 times" offer...was offered to me.

200,000 / 75 = $2666.66. Less, if you have an Mlife credit card, because that gives you an extra 3 tier credits per dollar to anything charged to that card at MGM properties. So now that would be 78 tier credits total, per dollar spent. That brings it down to $2564. Also, I know Alliant Credit Union offers a 3% rebate on EVERYTHING you charge with their credit card the first year you have the card (with no annual fee). That would also be $2666.66 to achieve Platinum status...but with an $80 rebate. So...$2586 doing it that way. (Uber's credit card also offers 3% back on "hotel charges," but then obviously you wouldn't get the rebate on, for instance, a purchase at a clothing store at any MGM property, whereas you would...with the Alliant Credit Union credit card. Although you would still get the tier credits regardless.)

Personally, I have never thought Mlife Platinum was worth it. You get better perks as a Total Rewards Diamond, which I already am, (although I think MGM properties are nicer). And without 75-tier-credits-per dollar, I would never have come close anyway. To me, the single best Mlife benefit is free valet parking, and that is available as an Mlife Gold, the tier below Platinum, and I've been Gold for some time now. It seems a lot of the Platinum benefits, are simply ways to spend money more efficiently...at MGM properties. "Dedicated Line at Participating Restaurants." "Pre-Sale Ticket Access to Select Events, Concerts and Fights." "VIP Line Access to Select Nightclubs for You and a Guest in Las Vegas." You get the idea.

But, I'm probably going to go for this. I'm already a good chuck of the way there (Mlife's year started last October 1). And, I'd be Platinum until September 30, 2019. Because, if you qualify for a higher tier at any time...you immediately move up, and get a full, complete "Mlife year" (October 1 - Sept. 30), as well. So that's 16 months as Platinum.

We'll see how it goes. ;-)

I'm confused.. you're saying mLife Platinum isn't worth it but you're going for it anyway.
Plus, as you already know, the real perks of status are the comps which are based on play, not status earned by spend..

I saw this offer as well, and the February offer, but it never even occurred to me that it would include the 25 X on spend. That's a great deal. I'm not going after TR diamond this year after the lounge devaluation, so I was considering going after Mlife Platinum instead. This would have made it a lot easier. Plus I believe TR still has the status match from Mlife Platinum to TR Diamond through December 31.

Please report back on your experience to confirm if they truly pay 75 X on spend.

To be clear, Mlife status benefits apply to everyone who is a member of that status tier, regardless of how they earned it. For example, an Mlife plat is going to get the same tier-based room rate discounts, free parking/valet, line skip privileges, and even tier-based cruise discount regardless of whether the tier was earned through gaming or spend. Comps and other offers earned through gaming play, such as casino rates, are separate - and e.g., when listed on the Mlife website, are even listed in a separate place than tier-based offers.

Been meaning to report back for sometime now. In a nutshell, it worked, and it worked well. Some thoughts - they prefer you to charge everything to your room, and shortly after checkout, all your multiple and many tier credits post to your account. That wouldn't have worked for me for a couple reasons. 1) I was eating at restaurants and using an Uber Visa credit card, which rebates me 4%, so charging those meals to my room would have essentially cost me money (that same credit card only rebates 3% for hotel charges). And 2), I wanted to see a running total of my tier credits the entire time I was trying to pull this off. So, I was making multiple-trips-a-day to the Mlife booth at a couple casinos. The most important thing I leaned is that the Mlife customer service clerks who work at the booths have a LOT (and I cannot emphasize that word enough) of discretion when it comes to what they can do for you. Just for one, my last night in town, hours after I checked out (I was planning on driving home later that same night), I was perhaps $80 spend SHORT of what I needed to get to Platinum before I left town, and it was close to midnight. All the Mlife booths close at midnight. I was explaining my dilemma to an Mlife clerk whom I had previously gotten friendly with. Not a whole lot of ways to quickly spend $80 late at night, (I wasn't hungry, I had no interest in gambling at that time, and even if I did, those gambling credits take some time to post, and I really wanted to leave town WITH my new Platinum card), midnight was rapidly approaching in any event, and I'm leaving town imminently as well. It wasn't crucial that I get the Platinum card right then; I was so close I would have gotten it during my next trip (I had until 9/30/18 to get over the 200,000 tier credit hump), but since this trip was a 3X special promotion, if I hadn't gotten it right then, whatever spend was left, would have cost me three-times-as-much, if I had left it until the next trip. Thankfully, the Mlife desk employee understood the situation perfectly. He told me "go get a coffee at Starbucks and bring me the receipt." Remember again, I'm about $80 short! I did what he said, and he obviously gave me credit for at least $80...because he said "you made it"...and he printed out my new Platinum card, about 10 minutes before the Mlife desk closed. He got a big tip for that. Best "$80" cup of coffee I ever had! And that was only the second nicest thing an Mlife desk employee did for me on that trip. A female clerk at another property did an even bigger favor for me. She got a generous tip from me.....and a dozen roses. Bottom line...be nice to those Mlife clerks, they can be EXTREMELY helpful.

My new Mlife Platinum card has an expiration date of 9/30/19. Pretty cool. (You always get at least one-full-year whenever you move up a tier, and Mlife expiration dates are always on 9/30.) Of course, all my current (200,000+) tier credits expire this coming September 30, but I'm optimistic they'll run that 3X promotion again....and I'll take advantage of it again. I read about someone who was offered it last February. Also, I received this e-mail 10 days ago:

<<M life Rewards members are invited to earn 2X Tier Credits for the following experiences NOW through July 31st: Hotel Accommodations at Park MGM•Dining at Primrose, Bavette's Steakhouse & Bar, Moneyline Sports Bar & Book, and Double Barrel Roadhouse•Entertainment at Juniper Cocktail Lounge>>

That would be 50 tier credits, per dollar, for non-gaming spending if I took advantage of it, but I have no reason to now. However it does seem to show that they, not-infrequently, run these cool tier-credit-promotions. They do seem to be targeted though.

Long-story short....I'm glad I did this. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the report, I was just thinking about this the other day while planning our trip to Vegas next month. I'll definitely pay more attention to any mlife offers that include tier credit multipliers in the future.

I'll also agree that the mlife desk agents I've dealt with have been very helpful, especially at Aria.

Can you clarify that you took your receipts for each of your purchases to the Mlife desk?

Thanks! I think I've missed out on a few points in the past by not doing this. I thought if you showed your card at the restaurant that I'd get the points but then they never showed up. So now I know what to do.

That's their "'official" policy, but I learned the hard way as well (by not getting credits that were owed to me), that to MAKE SURE your points get credited to your account....take the receipts to any Mlife desk. One exception....I THINK, if you charge your purchases to you room, you should be safe. Save all your receipts just in case though.

Make sure to match your Mlife to Hyatt as you get a higher level status at Hyatt.

To be clear, in mLife only TCs (tier credits) are earned for spend. Not points.

Not exactly sure what you mean by “spend.” This particular promotion tripled all tier credits during the specific time period. In general though, all “non-gaming” charges at MGM properties in Las Vegas earn three-tier-credits-per-dolllar. Gaming spend however earns both points and tier credits. Not sure of the earning formula for gaming. (It doesn’t seem to be straightforward.)

By "spend" I mean exactly what mLife calls "spend", namely on-property charges. In the faqs/T&Cs/etc, when mLife refers specifically to gaming, the terms "gaming spend" or "spend on gaming" are used; gaming is never referred to only as "spend".

Note that under mLife, spend (again, on-property charges) earns 25 TCs/$. I think you are confusing the 3 TCs/$ with the mLife CC bonus.

In context - in the post you quoted - I assumed PDILLM was referring to 'missing out' on TCs from bringing receipts to the rewards desk (i.e., on-property charges, thus, "spend"). If that's the case, then the only thing missed out on are TCs, not points.

You are correct, and I apologize, non-gaming charges do indeed earn 25-tier-credits-per-dollar-spent. (Plus an extra three-credits-per-dollar if you charge it to the Mlife credit card.) Obviously, I should have known that. Again, my apologies.
