Summit members - what 'premium' drinks do we actually get?

Flying from DEN to SFO yesterday and requested an Izzy Clementine. The FA asked for $1.50 and I flashed her my summit card. She said "I still have to charge you $1.50 for it", to which I replied "But I'm Summit, I get premium drinks for free". Her response was to become exasperated, say something along the lines of "fine, I'll give it to you", ignore me further and move on. It ticked me off.

What's the deal? I've got them before for free (along with bottled water, amps, beers, etc...). The September 2012 Cabin Guide clearly states Summit members get unlimited premium beverages (except from the Vintner collection) and Izzy (along with bottled water) is listed as a "Premium Non-Alcoholic Beverage". So, I'm supposed to get premium beverages for free, just not this particular premium beverage? Do the premium beverages allowed consist of only premium alcoholic beverages? Was my FA simply clueless? Was I just wrong and there are exceptions about which I'm unaware?

I think you hit the nail on the head. I've always been given Izzy for free since their introduction on F9, both Clementine and Blackberry.

I see the problem - you asked for an "Izzy" rather than an "Izze!"

I always ask for a bottle of water and a clementine Izze - they sometimes ask whether I'm Summit, but usually I've seen them go look on their list, after which they bring the drinks without issue.

Sure enough, I didn't have any issues getting Izzy on my two legs home. That kind of thing is just silly, especially since the FA got so irritated by it (which irritated me)...

Next time that happens, simply show the FA the fine print in the Food/Drink menu that clearly states Summit members are entitled to unlimited drinks with the exception of premium wines.
