No Need to Post Thank-Yous on Threads; It's Acknowledged/Is a Given
Hi there! If you're a regular on this forum you already know this. But if you're new to FT or new to the Contests/Sweeps forum, here's a quick heads-up.
It isn't necessary to post thank yous on the contest/sweeps threads. Those of us who post sweeps basically assume everyone is thankful/appreciates our efforts.
When people see responses to a thread they assume that's because there's additional information regarding the sweeps.
So when they click on the thread & the response is just a thank-you by someone new being polite, it can be a bit frustrating/irritating.
Not because everyone doesn't appreciate your thanks but because it eats up time, and while it seems like we have unlimited time to spend on FT, that's not really the case.
So - thank you in advance for not posting thanks but making them virtual instead.

Hi Sharon,
while I agree with you that reading through post after post of thank-yous can be a bit annoying, those posts can have a beneficial effect:
They bump the thread upwards to the top of the forum, and more importantly, make the thread show up on the main FT page, allowing more people to find the thread and get in on the deal.
That is, BTW, how I found this thread - off the www.flyertalk.com homepage.
There are pros and cons to this topic, so I wouldn't write off the thank-yous just yet.
Just my two cents, YMMV.
Cheers,
Alex

Good luck!
Sad news - how are we going to pad our post counts now???
Good to know, I always thought it was a given until on another message board and the poster beat my behind for not having manners to say thank you after she had taken the time to answer my question! Thanks ()()

Well let's clarify. On this thread, thanks is a given which avoids bumping up a thread where there is no new information re: the sweeps itself. However, if there is a thread on a different forum where someone has taken the time to provide detailed information on something you asked about, then a 'thanks' would be appropriate.
