I recently joined as well (but to figure out why I couldn't get any Delta FF miles trips!!) and found this board. Now I'm hooked. I have my system down.. lol..
I've only been doing this about a month... and won (as noted above) 10 packs of Hubba Bubba Bubble gum. lol. The only problem is that now my son asks every day if his bubble gum will come today...

Hey, good for you and contesting. I always feel someone has to win. Stick to it and you most always win something. I am happy that these good people have this forum too.
When they call for a prize... how does it come up on the caller ID? "Unknown name, Unknown number" or does the company show up, anyone know?
I only ask because I missed a call on Friday... 7 year old answered and declared that "mommy is in the bathroom" and it was an UN/UN and then I missed a call this morning... (dang cold medicine!)... same thing UN/UN.
NOT that I think I won a prize... It just makes me wonder that if one day I do win.. and they have like a 3 call try maximum before they move on.... will the number show up that I can call back?
I've only gotten two winning notices by phone call, and both times real numbers showed up on the caller ID. Of course I didn't know who was calling or why at the time, but because the call wasn't listed as "unknown" or "out of area" I answered. Sweepstakes promotion companies don't usually try to hide who they are, so I wouldn't worry too much about missing a couple of "unknown caller" calls.
I need to get new phones, mine don't show who called. But I will say the two big contests I won, the trip to Barbados and the one to Florence, Italy, I was first contacted by telephone. After I confirmed who I was and that I would indeed take the trips, they sent me the affidavites (spelling?).

On Monday morning, I received a call stating that I had been chosen as the Grand Prize winner in the Nivea "Hang with the Band" sweepstakes.
The prize was a 3 day, 2 night trip to Miami to see a Korn concert, meet the band and receive autographed merchandise.
After several long hours of consideration (including the dates of travel (Mon-Wed), the fact I had serious amounts of vacation planned in August already, limited vacation time and the 1099 value of the trip ($2700)), I turned the prize down.
If it had been a weekend or a group I liked more, I would have said yes in a heartbeat. Like they say, easy come, easy go.
Did you thank them though for choosing you/the offer? It's nice to let the sponsors know the sweepstakes is appreciated. After all we want them to continue offering them. Cheers.
PS - You probably could have gotten the 1099 down; just cuz they say it's $2.7K means it really is.

Of course I did... and included that I apologized for having to turn the offer down.

Agreed. It was more a matter of the timing of the trip... if it had included any sort of weekend, I would have been able to deal with my dwindling vacation balance much better. I imagined that I would have gotten a flight at 4pm on Monday and a return flight at 8am on Wednesday -- still requiring two days of vacation, but little time in Miami.
I wont the Stuff Magazine trip to the Hamptons sweepstakes. However I couldnt accept it as I didnt check my dummy sweepstakes account until after the deadline.

I know exactly what you mean, Greg. Sometimes the timing just stinks. Last January I won a week at the La Posada Spa & Resort in New Mexico - just as I was putting my husband back in the hospital (he has since recovered). Since the prize didn't include transportation to the resort, I didn't feel too awful about turning it down.
And it's a contest that SkiAdcock posted. That's nice to know that the hours she spends posting contests has paid off with an FTer winning one. How great for you!
