I finally won something, but I don't think I found out about it here (I did a search and it didn't come up). Second prize in the marthasflowers.com Flower Weekend Sweepstakes - a bouquet worth $80.
Alberta Beef & Travel Alberta contest.... entered every day for about 6 weeks, won a keychain and fridge magnet **sigh** I guess my winnings can only get bigger from here on, eh?
I won 2 etchings from SQ or a survey last yeaar. They are proudly hanging in our home now. They were froma gallery in Ngee Ann City, thanks SQ and Sparfax
Although we all have probably won something in our lives, has FT brought any more contest winnings to you? Please also say when...
I won a Gourmet Cooking trip to Paris in July 2005 (not through Flyertalk) so now I am addicted to entering these things. I seem to have better luck in my local newspaper where I have won a meal for 2 and theatre tickets.
I haven't won from a FT mentioned sweeps YET, but, I dutifully enter sweeps every day. Over the years, I have won 3 trips, 44,000 Delta Skymiles, and stuff. On a good day, when my health is holding up, I spend about 3 hours online, just entering sweeps. Back in the old days, BI (before internet) I was spending way too much money on postage. Thanks to the wonders of technology, I no longer spend it on postage, but, on desktops, laptops, ISP's, and the like.
I would like to know how many FT'ers won AirTran tickets.

Two days ago I won a $100 Amex gift card from Pepperidge Farms/Ellen Degeneres Show.
As an aside to the tax comments:
Back in late 90's I won a 1st class trip to (a scandinavian country) on a (scandinavian airline). I asked the airline representatives about tax documents - didn't want any nasty surprises from the IRS... they told me don't worry about it.
I received no 1099 for the trip so I figured the taxes were included on this one (?).
Does this happen often? I seem to read in about every contest I enter that the taxes are the responsibility of the winner. Maybe they all say that but sometimes they take care of that too... or maybe they get careless? In that case are we obligated to include our best guess as to the value of the prize on our taxes.... if we receive no 1099?

Obviously not the grand prize winner, but I just recently won some scented candles and a rain hat from Dreamworks. The hat had the logo from "Just Like Heaven"--a movie that's in the movie theaters right now.
If you don't receive a 1099, did the IRS receive one?

I have been given to understand that the 1099 goes to the receiver of the benefit and also to the IRS. If you don't get a 1099, did the IRS get one? I've won some big things and sometimes I get a 1099 and sometimes I don't. The times I don't, the sweeps has been run by an outfit I've never heard of or by the sponsor themselves. Maybe they don't know what they're doing. At any rate, and you can all visit me on Sundays and bring chocolate if I'm wrong, I'm not reporting something to the IRS that they don't have a clue about anyway. Just my 2 cents. Also, the sponsor usually greatly inflates the value of the prize. Keep careful records of what your prize actually costs, airfare, hotel, etc., and only report that value. You are allowed to do that. I won a trip that the sponsor said was over 17K. I reported $9,887 because I could prove it.

RE: Who has won anything from FT contests? A show of hands
I just won $100 gift card through a contest I entered from FT.
In the past couple of years, I have won two other contests, one for $500 and one for a $3500 vacation, though told I would receive a 1099 on the latter, I never did. Go figure! Keep the contests coming. I wish we could make a system where we could goto a page for daily/weekly, etc. contests so that we don't forget to enter daily, etc.

Even if they did, it's past the 3 year statute of limitations for audit. But I really don't think they did. I'm thinking it was reported to the tax agency in the airline's home country.

Waiting for something worth over $600 so I can get a 1099
Arrived home this week to find I won a copy of John Grisham's "Skipping Christmas" from a Pepperidge Farms contest. Last week I got home and found a CD I won from T-mobile. I also won an autographed poster in the same instant-win contest. Hopefully I will win something a 1099 will accompany.

Congratulations on your win! And hope you receive many more...
We don't really need a separate page for dailies and weeklys, though. I simply create a bookmark folder for each type in my browser, and bookmark the sweeps I want to go back to. When I think of it, I'll open the folder and just plow through the sweeps one after another.
In spite of my best efforts though, my only win recently was a $14.95 book by John Grisham from the Pepperidge Farms "Holiday Homecoming Sweepstakes."
For those of you who are serious about entering...
I guess everybody already knows about www.ezsweeps.com . Some of their sweeps automatically enter every day when you log in and others, the manual sweeps, are listed so that you can easily run down the list and enter every day.
Another site I really like is www.sweeps.ws . It's a well thought-out site with listings that make sense; i.e. once only, monthly, weekly, and daily. Also, it has a nice feature where you can mark each one that you enter so you know if you've already entered that once only sweep or see the last date you entered a daily.
I'm just throwing these out as, hopefully, helpful suggestions. I don't have any connection with either one of them and don't get any kind of referral or anything like that. Just want others to be as lucky as I have been.
