Snail Mail Entries - New Subject Line - One Time Only Mention!

Hi all. As mentioned in another thread when I was asking for votes, the question was: should I post snail mail entries for travel prizes in addition to online, or just online. The result was people were on both sides of the fence.

What I decided to do was: 1) online entries; 2) snail mail entries (based on time).

BUT - if there are #2), I will IDENTIFY them in the subject line as Snail Mail - BUT - because Snail Mail requires more characters, from now to eternity (or as long as I post), Snail Mail entries will be forever more in the subject line: Snail Mail (only) entries, but they'll say: SM.

So if someone is willing to do snail mail, then they can click & get the info (cut/paste works). If they're not, then enter the OTHER online sweeps, which will be posted normally.

I don't think Randy's around, but I'll see if I can get someone to make a sticky of this so folk coming in after the 5-10 days that this post stays on top will see it & understand. Cheers.

Sharon

Well done, Sharon. If you can't get it stickied, we'll just have to bump it up every once in a while to remind the newcomers to this forum what it means.

SM=Snail Mail. Not,....never mind.

I'm bumping this cuz snail mail usually have some stuff that if you don't do sweeps often, you might not be familiar w/:

Usually entries will say card or paper; traditionally these are 3x5's (ie, index cards or note pads), easily obtainable at local office supply store.

Mailed in #10 (reg business size) envelopes; also easily available at local office supply store.

Sometimes there are 3-1/2x5 paper or cards required; i think these are available at office supply stores, but if not will see if i can find a source. maybe someone else can post a source?

Occasionally they'll have 4x6 entries; no idea on the source for these. I'm too lazy to enter those cuz most sweeps don't require 4x6, so hasn't been worth hunting down source, but again maybe someone else can post a source?

Post cards - you can buy blank postcards w/ postage already stamped on them at the local post office. Traditional post card size is 3.5x5.5. Occasionally a sweeps will say 3.5x5, so you have to cut it down (takes 2seconds). Usually the sweeps I post will say Note Odd Size when the postcard is a dif size.

Hope this helps. Cheers.

Thanks for posting some sweeps but putting them in a sticky that refers to snail mail probably means they're not going to get noticed.

Individual sweeps should have their own threads. Cheers.

BTW - on snail-mail entries, most require handwritten entries & handwritten envelopes. Cheers.

Again, posting online sweeps in a snail mail stickey means most won't notice it. This thread is re: snail mail policies & tips. Having said that, good luck to everyone! Cheers.

.... and to follow up on Sharon's reminder that this sticky is not the place to post snail mail sweeps, if we do start a new snail mail thread, it is really helpful to include details about the actual sweeps rather than just a link that doesn't go anywhere. If all you can manage to post is a link, then at least make it a link to the sweeps' rules page where all the necessary information is available.
