Legal Holidays in November?

Last November was a nightmare in terms of accomplishing anything administrative because of all the legal holidays, which fell close enough to the weekend (i.e. any day from Weds.-Tuesday ;-) for people to take a long weekend or even a full week's vacation. But I can't remember what all the holidays are.

November 1, le toussaint
November 11? armistice?

What else?

How early in December do people hang it up for the year?

Looks like La Toussaint (Nov 1) and l'Armistice (Nov 11) are the only two...

Can someone give me a preview of Armistice? Anything special to see? Or avoid?

Nothing I can think of. Just be aware that a lot will be closed. Are you in Paris? Maybe someone there can tell you...

You're in luck because Nov. 1st fell on a Sunday this year and the 11th is a Wednesday. Kids are off school anyway and most people wont bother taking TWO vacation days to make the "pont" or bridge to a long weekend.

May is a lot of fun too, if you haven't already noticed

.....
I arrive the morning of the 11th. Just wondering what might be going on that could impact my arrival (traffic, etc) but also something I might want to see. A traditional parade, for example?

Military parade from the Arc de Triomphe to the Hôtel des Invalides. November 11. ( you may see Angela Merkel because Sarko wants to make it "Une célébration Franco-Allemande"

and since you will be there for awhile:
Fête d'Art Sacré (Festival of Sacred Art).
A series of classical concerts is held in five of the oldest churches of Paris. Mid-November to mid-December. ( check which churches and schedules if interested)

Click on any day that you are free :-)
