In the luxury hotel forum, the focus is not really on moderately priced hotels. Perhaps the moderators can move your request to our France forum where I am sure you will get better answers. You can help by indicating the kind of budget you regard as "moderate."

Moderate price is generally incompatible with luxury hotel, however the Hotel Claude Bernard is a 3-star gem in the Latin Quarter that is quite cheap for the quality it offers. Definitely not up to luxury levels, as the 3 star rating would suggest, however it is well done end good value for the price (circa 150-250 euros).
What I meant by a moderate priced hotel was a 4 star something not as expensive as the George V but still luxurious. Any suggestions??

Welcome to flyertalk Piloteg, RichardinSF is correct as the France forum will have many ideas and suggestions. The 'search' engine should bring up a few good suggestions of very good 4 star Paris hotels.

Having George V prices as your upper limit leaves a lot of options.
I'll throw out an idea for your consideration -- the InterContinental Paris Le Grand. If you book a Virtuso rate, you'll get access to their well-regarded executive/club lounge. (There was recently some discussion about this property and the associated Virtuoso benefits in this thread.)
Just to give you an idea -- rates for 1-night stay at the InterContinental Paris Le Grand (on October 31) are:
262 € (pre-paid)
285 € (Virtuoso)
335 € (best available rate)
(Just for comparison, the George V is 730 € for that evening.)
I agree with others that the France forum can be a great resource. Definitely worth searching around there.

Welcome to FT
I'd echo what others have said but add, if you're after reasonably priced luxury accommodation outside the main western European cities this forum is certainly worthwhile coming back to. In cities like Paris, London (although there are some bargains to be had here now), New York - you usually have to pay hefty sums of money for Luxury, and the main geographic forums (as pointed out by paul2) will offer better advice for your price point in these cities.
Mrs Northants JP and I would never spend 700 Euros for a nights sleep, despite, I suppose, being able to technically afford it - if I were paying £650 for a standard room the last thing I would want to do was fall asleep in it for 8 hours. I, personally, don't think I could get value for money at that price point if I'm out touring a city all day and only using it to rest my head.
Elsewhere round the world you'll find great recommendations on this Forum for Luxury accommodation on a more realistic budget. Certainly in the £200-£350 range you will find excellent advice for most cities and resorts, - prices can even be less for some places in the Far East!

One place that I use sometimes if I am travelling for pleasure and have overspent the holiday budget is the Marignan. It has an almost perfect location in the Golden Triangle. The rooms are quite small, so take a deluxe room at least. No, it is nowhere near George V standards, but for around a third of the price it is an absolute bargain (by Paris standards).

Would echo Marshking here. Just booked my Mother in at IC Le Grand last week - got her an excellent exec room for around 300E (I seem to remember). At the time, it certainly was the best hotel I could find for her for that kind of price. Hotel very well-placed for tourists. I prefer Le Meurice!
One other reasonable but luxirious hotel that I enjoyed is the Marriott Champs Elyesess. It is a few blocks from George V, very nicely appointed rooms and good service. Their concierge is well put together and was able to help us with numerous requests on our trip and the atrium when you enter is very pleasant. While not George V where we have also stayed, but I would be very happy to stay at the Marriott Champs Elyesess again and could not more highly recommend it.
