Smile Transport Vehicle from US to France need inland agent

Hi there,

My family is moving to France in a few months. We will also transport a truck and a RV from USA to France (Port Le Havre) and then need to deliver to S. France. I have the questions:

1. Please refer a company/person who is specialized to handle import vehicle in France and any inland transportation company in France. My husband is a French and we have address in France.

2. How's the procedure or any website reference that we apply the driving plate for these cars. Can we apply the car plates before the cars arrival France (seems impossible but is it 100% impossible)

Appreciate for any suggestions. Thank you.

I found something on the French Customs website but only in French. Your husband might translate it for you:

http://www.douane.gouv.fr/page.asp?id=30

I think you will have to pay excise tax and VAT on the truck and the RV...

I think you might need to replace the windshield too. They require a special kind in Europe. At least I was told that 10+ years ago.

The truck is Ford, anyhow, Ford seems different inspection in France, I'm still checking the details.
