I would encourage anyone that posts on airlinequality.com to post a link to the petition when they are reviewing a KLM, Air France or City Jet flight so that the petition can reach as many people as possible.
I am an Ivory member and I have signed because the will changes hurt me as well.
I have been involved in a number of campaigns at a local level over the years (against the closure of certain facilities, against certain proposed developments - that kind of thing)
There is a piece of "accepted wisdom" in campaigning circles here in the UK which goes something like this:
- One individually-written letter is worth ten form letters
- One form letter is worth ten signatures on a petition
Not everybody will have time to write to FB with their own thoughts, but I would strongly recommend that those who do have time to spare write their own letters to KLM in addition to signing the petition.

I think you are absolutely right that individual letters in addition to the petition is a great strategy as the two achieve different purposes. For instance, you can alert Business Traveler and other such magasines or media that 1000 people have signed a petition, but can't really do it with the individual letter. At the same time, as you said, multiple individual letters are harder to ignore as they 'keep coming'. Incidentally, my intuitive sense is that 'snailmail' letters carry more weight than email, if only because they are answered by snailmail as well...

Indeed a very good point. We should not replace the individual letters with the petition. They should go hand-in-hand. We may however be able to write up a template letter for people to send to AF/KL/FB, which would make it easier to sign, put in an envelope and send at a post office.
That would mean we covered all 3 areas (individual, form and petition). Anybody want to volunteer to redraft the petition letter as template letter for people to send to AF/KL/FB?
Maybe someone could look if they can post it on the TROS Radar site in NL? Also on Hyves (there must be a KLM hyve) or other social networking sites. I am on my mobile now, so no-can-do myself.

Yes I believe most of us already sent an email and/or a letter, but there are some that may not have. I also think if we have some time to put together a clear concise template covering the same areas as the petition then it can help some of the people that are otherwise very busy or perhaps just unsure of exactly what to write to be effective.
I'm sure you are monitoring this thread, and I will say that you were much more eloquent than me on the Consumentenbond forum (even though I was there first).

I agree.
BTW I signed the petition, and already wrote letters to both
the AF and KL headqs,
to my regional Flying Blue customer care, and regional AF/KL sales offices.
No answers yet, as usual...

Also sent a letter to AF to tell them what I thought of their upcoming changes and inform of my decision to move as much of my business as possible to Star Alliance carriers. They are really a bunch of morons..

I have signed the petition, but more important: I have flown zero paid miles on skyteam this year, and I have used all my miles for first awards (the sum of 40 miles is left at my account). Action speaks much more than words. I am happy camper with Star alliance now (status match with Bmi).
