Very good thinking. Once we have some more signatures we will also be looking to send it to local media etc.

lets see how they react!!!!
Hmm... I see... the KGB strikes back!! Maybe they realised that the tool they were creating was likely to convey quite a bit of criticism! Do let us know if they show an unexpected level of support for freedom of expression!!
I have signed, and I would like to thank everybody for their efforts in getting this going.
Just one thing... I've noticed that there is no confirmation mechanism. On other petition sites signatures only get added once the person concerned has replied to a confirmation email. The way this petition is set up anybody can just sign as "Mickey Mouse", with a made-up email address.
Don't know if we can do anything about this without starting afresh on a different petition site, but thought I'd mention this.

Unfortunately even if you ask for a validation email you can still just create a random email and type in Mickey Mouse. Validating identity and not invading privacy is a fine line for these online petitions. Not sure other sites have a better solution to the problem. There is definitely the flaw that AF-KL could look at the petition and say that we have just made up names, but the reality is that the same could be said for so many other traditional petition types. No method is perfect. The exact number will not matter in the end either, it is more the approximate quantity. So if we get several thousand to sign it will suggest to AF-KL that this is something that many of their frequent flyers are unhappy with. They will then have to make the decision of whether they want to risk upsetting that many good customers!

Good point
If they want to validate the list it is definitely possible, but perhaps the question is always going to be whether they decide to respond or not. The more signatures we get the more difficult it will be to ignore
I've signed the FB petition. I see in a day it's already doing better than the NXEC petition. It's not been a positive year travelwise for me - Flying Blue and NXEC's cost cutting being the most frustrating.
Personally I don't think petitions on their own make much of a difference, however, a popular petition gets the press interested in the issue and therefore the publicity will make more people aware.
The more people that are aware the more likely Flying Blue will take action and reverse at least the worst of their changes.
Excellent initiative, I'm afraid they'll be stubborn as always though.
I think their intention is to reduce the number of elite members. The rules have been strange from the beginning, with the 25% miles rule for instance. I never fly KLM to the USA, coz when I fly Continental or Delta, I get 100% miles for the same fare. A very strange rule in FB.
However, a lot of elite members won't be switching to other programs as long as they're elite. I was thinking of joining SkyMiles or Onepass, but that'll make me lose all the benefits I have... So if these new rules make me drop back to silver, I'm gone :-)

Just to let you know I've just distributed it to a group of my colleagues that travel on NXEC service every week between London and Newcastle currently. I always fly when going up to Newcastle, but most people take the train. Happy to help support the cause of improving the train service (if it can be called a service these days)

The 200 threshold has just been passed!! Still loads of elites, which is great, but I think people should feel free to bring along ivory partners, family members, and friends to beef up the numbers. The high committment of elites is a sine qua non, but symbolic targets for total signatories (500, 1000, etc) would also be worth the effort, especially if we need to try and attract the attention of the media...

Fully agreed. I am encouraging both Ivory and elites to sign. The more the merrier
Airlinequality.com. have a section about the SkyTeam Alliance and a work colleague posted a brief review about the changes to FB with a link to the online petition. I know that airlinequality.com vets the posts so I hope they will not edit out the link.
I would encourage anyone that posts on airlinequality.com to post a link to the petition when they are reviewing a KLM, Air France or City Jet flight so that the petition can reach as many people as possible.
I am an Ivory member and I have signed because the will changes hurt me as well.
