I've kept an eye on this thread and just realised I have not actually posted.
Why's that?
Easy, I've already left, I'm gone, out of here.
I was Royal Wing then Platinum and only a year or two away from Platinum for Life. Last year I went down to Gold.
Why?
What's the point, AF/KLM & Flying Blue really don't have a clue, why would I waste my time on any firm that constantly think the way to answer any question from the customer is to send "standard reply no. 12345".
Last year I think I had 2 flights on KLM, it would have been 4 but KLM pulled one of the usual strokes not wanting connecting passengers at AMS and bumped me from a CPH flight onto another carrier.
But last year I also tried LH First, BA First and what an eye opener, even when you do have a problem they will "read" your question and send an appropriate reply. It may not always be what you want but at least they have the decency to read your email/letter etc.
So in short AF/KLM wont get any business from me other than to use up 600k or so miles for C bookings unless they are as cheap as Ryanair or Easyjet.
I'm already gone! I was a couple thousand miles short of my 4th year as Platinum due to an inadvertent purchase of an N fare ticket. I sent a very nice letter to FB asking them to take pity on me....loyal customer, always fly AF to Europe, would like to continue our relationship, etc. Yesterday I got the kiss-off letter..."this will not be possible." So my miles are all going to Delta from now on. My main regret? The ridiculous amount of money I've spent flying AF when cheaper fares were available elsewhere.
I'll miss you guys! Goodbye Flying Blue! Hello Sky Miles!
I have had issues with Flying Blue for several years!!!
It is very sad that Air France refuses to put any pressure on Flying Blue and their "issues", Air Frances' position is that of, not part of Air France so can't do anything, approach will lead them to loose it's loyal flier base, not to mention contributing to income loss. They apparently can't see the forest through the trees. They may be one of the largest carriers, but with an attitude which they are holding they will end up like Northwest!
Sad to see such a GREAT airline, take such a useless company like Flying Blue under their logo!
Air france, thanks to flying blue just lost my business!
With the new rules going into effect on April 1st, Air France because of Flying Blue, they just lost my business! I have been flying relatively loyally with Air France in V class, and getting 100% of the miles at a cost of roughly $1,500, Y class being roughly $4,000....Now it seems with the same fare class I will only be getting 75%....According to the Flying Blue Director, "to be in-line with the cost of the flight"
My answer to that is ROFL!!! What, is he an idiot??? The difference in price is over 130% and a reduction of 25% miles on top of that!!! LOL I bet his best subject in school must not have been math! More like Cheat and Steal 101.
Well, Air France, love your airline, hate your FF program! It's run by a bunch of idiots! At this rate you will loose more than your profits, you will loose your customer base!
AU REVOIR

IF you still want to stick with ST, Aeroflot Bonus is a good alternative.
Validity of miles can be extended by flying at least one ST flight in 36 months.
They also give you free miles on your birthday, and on X-mas every year.

Well, I figured since I'm gonna stop using Flying Blue, I figured I still have to fly with them in order to burn my miles....I'm gonna burn them on a first class ticket, and at least take away $17k from them! Two tickets to Tahiti!!
I sent them a email to Air France, and not to Flying blue, because that would be like talking to your shadow, they won't care anyway! Basically, saying the above, and that loyal customers are going to be leaving in droves! Like Northwest, once was a great carrier, now they are in bankrupcy/merger....Air France is going in that direction...I sincerely hope that someone in Air France has the brains to figure out that they are pissing off their customer base.
But I do think that Air France has gotten too big for anyone to even care! My strongest suggestion to you all, who are pissed, is to at least send them an email, through AF website, and voice your opinion....What else can they do!
I was thinking Continental Airlines, but they will be switching to Star Alliance later this year....

As per the Flying Blue Director Herbert Verschuren, (Watch the interview on Air Frances' website under Flying Blue).
"First the Flying blue program aims to REWARD it's Flying Blue Customers, the ones that use the program the most frequently"
.....ROFL.....Really!!!!!
"the benefit of miles lasting for life is not a benefit most other carriers offer"
.....ROFL........REALLY!!!!!!
in
"As of April 1st we will revise some accrue and redemption schemes, the objective is to reflect the price paid for the ticket in the most fair possible manner"
.......ROFL..... so, just an FYI that 133% increase in economy tickets to get 100% miles is done in the most fair possible manner!!! Yeah, okay! LOL
"We bring much more in line with the number of miles earned with the fair base and the ticket conditions will make the Flying Blue accrual more logic and fair"
Logic and fair...ROFL, you gotta be kidding!!!!
"Elite benefits will be maintain, unlike some other carriers, IT WILL EVEN BE REINFORCED."
Hmmm, since July 2005, well no more lounge access for Gold in partner airlines, no more priority luggage handling, I haven't seen priority boarding in a long while...Yes they will be maintained....The word Pinocchio comes to mind....Reinforced, please!! LOL
"And finally, to become and maintain the program of preference, by bringing tangible benefits to our customers, we want to do everything it takes to make sure that each and every customer feels that he or she is being recognized for the trust and the loyalty they give to us."
And that is why so many of us loyal customers are LEAVING.....
So, run, run, run, away from Flying Blue before your miles will be worthless!
1. I get a different story about the new mileage plan rules at FB Canada every time I call. This includes the time I called to get the pricing on ticket to Africa last year. As the result of their miscalculation. I transfered 120,000 Amex MR miles I didn't need to move into this shoddy little hell hole.
2. I now have 120,000 FB miles that are suddenly set to expire in April. ON 10 WEEKS NOTICE!!!
3. According to at least on FB Canada agent any ticket use of these miles MUST suddenly be ticketed by June 7 under the new rule book.
4. These are miles purchased by AMEX MR (accidentally ) and lastly
5. I was told these miles since they are from AMEX can never be renewed and will expire not matter what. So much for "lifetime miles"
I now hate Flying Blue. They are lying thieves who suddenly change the rules and steal miles. Thank you for listening My head may explode.

Wow that's outrageous. I'm glad I haven't put any AMEX points into FB. I colleague of mine actually told me he had done that a few days ago and I had a small rant at him about never transferring miles from your AMEX MR until you need them. Their main value is that they can be moved to where ever you need them, when you need them!
I will need to make sure he looks into that, which would really sucks if he loose those miles because they cannot be extended.

Transfer takes 1-2 days ... only transfer them when you need them ...
