Yes. Nothing seems to change with promo award.

(not that there was any AF promo award in months, anyway).

Well, there were other logics, just as much acceptable as increasing the price of business class awards from 150% to 200% of the price of economy awards. Suggestions:
  • Tempo: 100%
  • Tempo Plus: 130%
  • L'espace Affaires: 160%
or
  • Tempo: 100%
  • Tempo Plus: not available for awards
  • L'Espace Affaires: 150%

etc...

While the miles required for a flight soar, nothing is done to control the damaged caused by this increase...

I'd love to see :

Tempo from 25 to 125%
Tempo plus: 150%
Business: from 200 to 225%
First: from 350 to 400%

Ok, I'm dreaming but it sounds fair... the fares have also increased...

Séverine Benquet-Bessagnet pointed out the ratio miles earned / fare ticket... With my chart it's reflecting what we expect.. because if I have to fly to CDG in First I will have to pay more than $18000 !! Or a pax going to KIX from CDG at more than $19000 !!!
Giving 400% will help the fellow to swallow bas services, horrible catering and so on...

Can you figure out how many trips a business man will have to take (even in first) to grab 2 seats in first...

Let's hope the web awards will remain...

Since you are talking about AF, remember that webawards have disappeared for allmost a year now, without any notice, announcement or justification. That is also a drastic reduction in FB benefits for AF flyers.

My posts kind of remind me of Don Quijote fighting the windmills. Despite my irritation, I know that my (our) posts will have no influence, no more than they had in the past. But I also know that windmills did not have a great future at Don Quijote's time.
It is sad that it is a lose-lose situation for us and AFKL. Just took the week-end to book my business/family flights to Asia and USA for the next few months: 4 in F, 6 in C, 6 in Y. None of them on AF. I know that I am a little fish in a big pond, but there are many little fish and they are the marginal contribution that can make a load factor profitable or not. Prices and quality are just unattractive on AF compared to competition if you are based in France, and with the depression affecting FB....

Skyteam, au-revoir..

After being now 9 year FB Platinum Elite, and (Maybe) finishing this year to get the Life Time status, I can’t really start expressing how the news has irritated and made me feel. It’s simply unbelievable how this constellation of AF/KL thinks it can bind it’s loyal customer base and reward them for their continued support. I can only rest my case like all other fellow victims here and pledge.. Yes, we may be an insignificant species to AF/KL, but we do have the power of choice.. We can and will take our business else ware. We have endured the inconvenience of our travels because we could have a little benefit for our family in return. For most of us, it’s unlikely that in the current economic climate, our companies nor us as induviduals are going to approve / justify more expensive travel (yes AF/KL, you read well, companies, since individuals, don’t really play a role in this game since they have long moved their business to low cost not thrill airlines) actually, mostly it was already a battle to keep up with regulations since prices in Holland have gone up and up (the most expensive departure / arrival place in the world !!), whilst the same flight , booked from other countries is a fraction of the cost. Now AF/KL has clearly chosen to be a no trill airline also, except that they can’t match the prices of those, while in service they already do. I’m sure, there will be some clever marketing people at other airlines now that will read this forum and understand that there is something to gain from this.. Offer us AF/KL loyal customers a match, and we may be very tempted to choose for an other program, as for me. Skyteam, au-revoir.. To bad I wasted 9 year of my live to give my pledge to the Dutch national carrier.. oh.. I forgot.. French !! I should had know better..

This is my first time here. I searched the web for information on changes in AF program and found many references to FT. Sorry, I did not find the forum before, very interesting information.
As everyone I shocked by the changes. Flying from Paris is very expensive compared to GB or Germany. And now AF makes it the less attractive FFP program of all. I cannot understand their logic. They probably believe that they have monopoly in France, that is not true. Their FFP was the major reason I was flying with them as they are not competitive in price and quality. Combined with the 3x4x3 seating on the 777s, I stop flying AF for vacation with my family. I have also sent a mail to our travel office requesting that they avoid AF. We already have agreements with BA (and therefore EC) and JL. I think that AF will be a clear loser as others in my company have the same reaction and costcutting is a priority.

May I suggest to all Flyertalkers to mail to Flying blue what you feel about these new rules:
https://www.airfrance.us/cgi-bin/AF/...ailFFP2.do?BV_

I am not sure they think we are many to leave Skyteam.

Another way of boycotting AFKL would of course be to buy code sharing flights NOT through their sites but rather through the other airlines or travel agencies (ie NW flights from AMS/CDG). Am I right on this or do the almighty AFKL still get money then?

I am not sure this will change anything, for 2 reasons:

1) Soon NW will be DL and DL-AF are in the process of implementing a far-reaching code and revenue sharing of all flights across the North Atlantic.

2) I am pretty sure they will "harmonise" mileage earning on codeshare flights so they earn the same as if booked on AF/KL codes.

What I don't get is - why, if the changes are being implemented as of 1 April (appropriate) do you only get, for example 75% in M class - and 100% in S , as of now? Anyone challenged this yet?

Best way to harm AFKL is

a) Do all your flying on other SkyTeam airlines
b) Creit the miles on your Lying Blue account
c) Take the award on non KLM/AF metal.

I did manage to do a) and b), however my award when I cleared my account was a First to Los Angeles on Air France.

Hmm... Might have been non-strategic, but this weekend, I have booked 2 C class return with LH, 2 with OS, and 4 with BA/QF, all long-haul, and it felt very good anyway. I'm actually excited about finding out what the service and lounges on LH and OS will be like!! It might not hurt AF-KL as much, but at least, it rewards LH and BA for not acting like b-st-rds against their frequent fliers.

You are fully right!
As ex-FB owner, now Freccia Alata in AZ I can tell you that even AZ changed rules and miles on 18 december 2008. Code-sharing flights now cannot allow you to earn more than what you would earn with AZ operated flights!
I'll write more, likely on the revamped Alitalia thread, when I'll get all datas.
At the moment, AZ changed the rules on earning miles but nothing on how to spend them. I fear April...
