Back then KL clearly felt that their FF program was an important tool to attract transfer pax and retain their loyalty, and I know that they were not at all happy with FB. I suspect they may well be even less pleased with what is happening now, but Amstelveen is not where these decisions are made any more.

Are you sure about this one?
Herbert is supposed to be the boss of FB...

(1) This is scqndqlous,

(2) Do follow the advice of others to individually write and complain (or insult)

(3) I propose to start writing a petition and send it to FB, AF, and KL. I will try to suggest a phrasing in the next few days.

The question of the comparison with other FF programmes is only part of the reality to look at in this case, the important argument (the one, which, I believe, can work) is that no other major European airline wants to do anything to further upset their frequent flyers in these difficult times, far from it.

KL's CEO has recently been touring various departments, and reportedly exhorting staff to do their utmost to keep passengers loyal to the airline in these hard times.

Perhaps they should make more in-flight announcements praising FB?

That'll work!

Oh bugger

This is a big disappointment indeed. I still need to read the new T&C's in detail, but generally I think FB is now not the program for me anymore..

However, you guys forgot to mention the BIGGEST ADVANTAGE OF FB: Status Match on BD

I'm sure that the lovely Joanna at Diamond Club will have a full in-box on Monday!

You never know.. You might get Lufthansa top-tier after the takeover too??

Promo Awards in J to TLV will increase from 45K to 50K RT.....still the one compelling value proposition that TLV is considered in Europe not Mideast zone.

Hardly "compelling" given what J quality is like on an Airbus 320. Still, pity the poor guys travelling to AMM, a few miles further along, get the same crap J service, and have to spend Mideast zone miles for the privilige

I haven't noticed many other businesses responding to recession in this way.
Welcome to the airline industry management culture, especially when the airline group management thinks their current (government-aggrandized) weight in the market is the only thing that matters.

CO is matching NW and DL Platinums to CO Platinum. Maybe they will do the same for AF-KL Platinums.

i understood they are simply going away, finito, byebye. Now you will need to pay F/P

However, it is likely there will be a lot of opups to F, since AF is positioning itself as the 3x4x3 eco class champion targetting bargain hunters. This will certainly mean even more largely overbooked Y due to low load factor perspectives in J and P... until they remove P because, do they actually need some image de marque and prestige?

This is the natural outcome from government(s) approving the behemoth mergers of AF-KL and of DL-NW and of granting these giant airline groups anti-trust immunity so that they can act in collusion through a joint-venture-style structure to undermine competition. Now, the options of shifting loyalty even within SkyTeam have been crippled to a large extent.

Yes. Good point. AFKL was meeting with some degree of success of convincing those who were loyal to them to also fork over more money than they needed to to fly in order to gain the benefits of the loyalty program. With this next planned change, very few of those customers will continue to fly AFKL, let alone voluntarily pay them more for a ticket than they needed to.
