Pack for a Purpose... bring items in your spare suitcase space

Hi,

A couple of years ago I discovered this web site, called Pack for a Purpose. Since then, I've been bringing all kinds of items in my empty suitcase space, and giving them away when I reach my destination.

The web site is here: https://www.packforapurpose.org/

I brought 2 huge suitcases full of clothing, mosquito netting, children's shoes, books, and educational items that my children had outgrown to South Africa. On that trip I also organized a backpack donation drive, and brought about 30 backpacks to give away. On the way home, we filled the suitcase with items we bought.

I did search for the donation location in Peru on the way to Macchu Picchu, but never found the drop box and ended up giving my items away to the staff at the hotel I was staying.

Does anyone else have a story to share? Have you used packforapurpose?

This is a great idea. I've passed it on to a few friends.

I recently went to Bali and took a full suitcase of clothes and other items they had on their "wish list". I love Animal Care in Egypt (ACE) in Luxor and often send they money but have also sent a large number of items to the wife of an Egyptian friend in New Zealand who took hard to get in Egypt or expensive items.
