Folks, if you want to be in the drawing for the ride, you need to actually give your handle when you make your donation
Probably there are folks here who don't know what is meant by "handle"! For those of you who didn't grow up in the era of CB radio, handle == username.
I'll also reiterate the deadline, since I had to dig through the second post to find it: The deadline for raffle donations will be 4pm PST September 10.
Obviously donations to the Dahl Scholarship fund are welcome after that time but they won't be eligible for the raffle.
Is this educational fund for the children of the Dahl's ?
After Capt Dahl lost his life on September 11th, his wife Sandy and friends started a scholarship in his name to honor his memory and love of flying. The scholarships go to young men and women interested in an aviation career. They have to be in an accredited college flight program. This past May we gave out $18,000 to 12 students.
If anyone has any questions I will be more than happy to answer them.
I woke this morning and am excited by all the donations coming in. Total donations $5600.

I'm leaving EWR this morning for IAH then on to ORD. At the rate donations are accumulating we might make the $5000 match today. Wish I had a camera for todays flight to take a birds eye view photo of Isaac for all of you.
On Sept 11th 2001 I lost my best friend...Jason Dahl Captain of flight 93.
His wife Sandy chose to give back to the aviation community that they both loved so very much.
In late 2001 I had the honor of sitting at a kitchen table as five of us including Sandy. started a small pilot scholarship. In 2002 we gave one
$1,500 award.
In May of this year we gave $18,000 away in an ongoing National program.
At this years awards dinner Sandy whispered that this is what she always hoped for. Four of our winners were able to fly in on my passes.
We lost Sandy less than two weeks later. Of the remaining 16 Board members not one of has given up her vision.

The second match looks like it will become a reality. The last two days were slow but we are getting close. Right now we are at $3999. With another $1001 in donations we reach the match goal and our donation totals will be $12,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A 50% increase over last year.

$380 from $1K and $5K match fulfillment
We are now $380 from raising $12K for the Dahl Foundation, done thru a combination of pshuang's $1K challenge, then another FTer's $5K challenge and $5621 given by many of you.
We then have a SECOND $5K match. This is also an anonymous giver, someone with single digit posts on FT, yet who is a regular reader and who was impacted by 9/11. IF WE MEET the 2nd match, we will raise $22K for the Dahl fund. The Radial Velocity team will give a SECOND ride on their plane, to be taken the same day as the first winner.

$1K and $5K match have been met! A generous FTer gave $500 yesterday to move us past the $12K total mark. Not only has the Dahl foundation benefited, but this means the first ride and the Reno Air Race package will be given out.
We now start work on the next $5K match. If we succeed in raising this by the FT dinner on Sept 10, a second ride will be given and the Dahl foundation will have a record amount of money for scholarships.
