Global Sighthound Rescue

Global Sighthound Rescue is a nonprofit organization that rescues sighthounds (greyhound, borzoi, saluki, etc) from poor circumstances* in many countries and relocates them to good adoptive homes. The reason I post here is because when someone referred me to this organization, they commented that they are always looking for people to escort dogs on flights. GSR takes care of the vetting and transportation logistics, they just need escorts or people to drop off and pick up the dogs from airports. It made me think of Flyertalk and all the mileage runners here. If you think you can escort a dog to it's new forever home, please check it out.

* A good example (although not GSR's primary work) is rescuing abandoned and abused galgos from Spain. Spain has a seasonal hunt where they use galgos (Spanish greyhounds) to assist in the hunting. At the end of each season, they abandon the dogs to starvation and deprivation. There are many organizations now rounding up those discarded dogs, rehabilitating them and re-homing them in other countries. The most famous group is called Scooby: http://www.scoobymedina.org/en/index.html
