Signed up, and downloaded the program. I got the "Intel Mac's don't support PowerPC Applications" error.

Therefore, I assume that the program is PowerPC.
The download page for WCG clearly states "PowerPC, x86" which means it should work on both. Something is amiss here

Is it just me or does this cause your battery life to go down?

Running a CPU at 100% does use significantly more power, whether it's computing a malaria vaccine or compressing a video or playing a FPS video game.

However, the app has an option to pause computation when on battery power. I'd suggest turning that on.

Congratulations! And thanks for the opportunity to say "I don' need no steenkeen' badge"... (But I've got a silver and several bronzes myself - I guess we need some kind of status for it to work on FT!)

I didnt know there was an FT team until I noticed your signature strap either!

I have the office desktops all set to run seti@home on the BOINC system. I will have to look to see how I can get them linked to the FT account.

We have a growing team...

20 members, and with dual or quad processors, our contributions grow:
Total Run Time (y:d:h:m:s) 17:127:09:48:41
Points Generated 6,735,108
Results Returned 18,751

and here's the BOINC - World Community Grid e-mail for the holidays:

So your help is needed more than ever before.

If you are not participating in World Community Grid at this time, we invite you to rejoin and help the researchers complete their studies. To rejoin click on "Register Now" under Quick Links on the right.

If you are participating, we thank you for that and invite you to ask your family and friends to also participate. The easiest way to do that is to use the Tell-A-Friend feature.

We're on a mission to reach the 2 million registered device count as soon as possible. Your help toward meeting that goal is appreciated.

Thank you,

Got the signup sorted. Ferret is the BOINC handle - as I have been on it for longer than FT, and is there for a different reason.

Edit: changed that now to antichef!

I'm in. I used to do the old BOINC thing, but my laptops that were running it slowly died due to old age. I may resurrect one just for poops & giggles.
