refuelling before returning rental car at TPA...
How easy is it to fuel up at TPA before dropping a rental car back?
Just wondering if I break with tradition and use the pre-paid fuelling option, as I'll probably use about 75% of a tank of gas on this trip.

It depends on where you will be coming from. There is a couple of easy stations if you are comingfrom Clearwater on Gulf To Bay (Hwy 60). Otherwise not a lot of easy staions close to TPA.

I reckon it'll be an extra 10 bucks if I take the refuelling option. Sounds like a sensible investment.

I think that an extra US$10 would be worth not having to worry about refilling. You'll be coming back on highway through the city. Traffic can be bad and trying to find an exit with a gas station that is easy to get back in 275 can be difficult if you don't knwo the area.

Very simple actually. There are gas stations located at Westshore Blvd, which run about $0.20-0.40/gal more than anywhere else, many on Kennedy Blvd, and cheapest is usually Wawa(same price cash or credit) on Dale Mabry.
From Orlando, you'd take I-4 to I-275. Get off on the Dale Mabry exit, hang a left (south) and Wawa is right there at Gray St. To get to the airport, either hop back on I-275 and head West or drive N on Dale Mabry to Boyscout Drive which heads straight into the airport.

Coming from Orlando, there are plenty of easy options to refuel at. +1 for the station at Westshore and Cypress - likely the closest. You literally exit 275 at Westshore making a right off the ramp (heading N on Westshore) and you can see that station from the highway. It's another 5-7 minutes to the airport from there depending on lights.
