Miami Sun Life Stadium - FLL: car/taxi help post-NFL game

As part of an upcoming family get-together, three of us will be going to the Sun Life Stadium for a Dolphins game.

The game has a 1pm start, and we have a domestic flight from FLL to catch with a departure time of 7:50pm.

Our bags will be with my mother-in-law, who will meet us at the airport with our daughter.

I've never been to any sporting event of this scale, even gigs at Wembley in London, UK are probably bad analogies since there's lots of public transport options - but it seems that at Sun Life Stadium, there's no transit links to speak of... at least not that I can find from searching online.

Our current thinking is to get a taxi or order a car/limo immediately after the game - but I really have no idea how busy it will be after the match...

So, my questions are:

- how easy is it to get a taxi from the stadium after the game?
- would it be easier to book a limo/shuttle instead? and if so, is there a designated pick-up zone/point that would make this an easier proposition?
- how long should we allow to get to FLL from the stadium immediately after a Sunday afternoon game?
- finally, any indication of taxi/limo costs (or, better yet, some recommended companies!) would be appreciated.

Thanks!

To be honest, it would likely be easiest to get a cheap car rental for the day near wherever you are staying, and drop off at FLL since you are going there anyway. Otherwise answers to your questions are as follows:

There is a taxi line at the stadium, but the # of taxis is finite and if you dont get one, you are in trouble. If you go this route, I would leave the game early to guarantee you got a taxi. Make sure you ask the taxi driver on the way in and/or the stadium workers where the taxi line is.

It would be easier/less risky to book a car service or limo. They have their own designated lot at the stadium, and you would meet them there afterwards. I would confirm with the car service how much the parking would be at the stadium as you will be paying for it and stadium may charge higher rate for actual limo vs a smaller towncar.

If you leave right when the game ends at 430pm or so you'll be at the airport by 530pm or so. It is a mess getting out of the stadium but once on the highway it is no problem.

I've only gotten full limos with large groups to the stadium, and can't remember who I booked with.

If you choose the car rental option....there is a charge for game-day parking of $25.

I would suggest heading for the exit a few minutes before the game actually ends if you want to improve your chances to avoid the worst of the exit traffic.
