FLL awarded $21 millions Federal grant for second runway

FLL awarded $21 millions Federal grant for second runway

Finally, They're got the money to pay for second runway and it will create 11,000 jobs to start constructions second runway. Here the links:

Where's it going to go? I can see them extending 9R/27L (the south runway) by moving the cab stand and re-aligning US-1 farther east, but that's the only thing I can think of (and it'll demolish traffic in that area for a year or two.)

Last I heard it was going to be built over US-1 and the FEC railroad tracks.

Will they be brought below ground/sea level, or is that end of the runway going to have its altitude quadrupled from 6' to 24'?

The new runway will be sloped, with a height of 65' at the eastern end, so I assume that the roads/tracks will stay where they are and the runway will go over them.

Similar to the newest runway at ATL which goes over the interstate.

That's absolutely massive; glad I never go up north to Broweird and won't have to deal with an eyesore like that
