If I understood it correctly they will be carrying the cream of the Silicon Valley start up funding crowd to and from SFO/HEL.

Why would any airline want to offer a good image of themselves to the most important decision makers of the younger generation businessmen/women?

I mean, what is Silicon Valley after all, just a bunch of pizza eating propeller heads...

If AY would be in their sane minds, these gents and ladies would get a "laid back top tier service" flight to be used as a benchmark in the tough trans-Atlantic competition.

Yes. I was talking about HEL-SFO-HEL which is sombrero tour while SFO-HEL-SFO is for those propeller heads going to "Flush".
No idea What kind of service level they will have or is there any AY tiers on board.

Anyway me and my sombrero will be there on 42L to SFO and back.

These flights are charter flights, so the service level is decided by the customer (Slush). If Finnair decided to go beyond that and pay for it from its own marketing budget, other customers would start to expect the same in the future and try to get away with paying less.

Obviously, there's some minimum service level that Finnair finds acceptable, but below that point they simply won't do business with you at all.

Also, if there are SFO-based Oneworld emeralds on this flight, they will have flown enough to understand that it's a charter flight with special rules. Likewise, anyone buying a regular ticket and leaving from HEL will know what they're getting into. As long as Finnair demanded that proper food be served, everything will be fine (edit: or duct taped).

CAN returns during summer season - complements AY61/62 with the 4 other days of the week (I assume).

Personally I like they will do 2 daily to HKG/CAN area. For Japan I'm pretty indifferent since the joint venture arrived, but I'd rather see a new destination than increased frequency to NRT.
AY71 is going head-to-head with SK983. Unless we are going to see a pricewar ex CPH/ARN/GOT/OSL I don't think it will be a success from Nordics. (I have no idea what competition AY is facing in mainland Europe, I assume similar situation)

FUK will also remain summer destination 2017.

-- Added schedule
Code:
AY67 HEL CAN 17.00 07.30(+1) 2/3/5/7 26-APR-2017 12-OCT-2017
AY68 CAN HEL 09.50 14.50 1/3/4/6 27-APR-2017 12-OCT-2017

AY75 HEL FUK 16.30 08.00(+1) 2/4/6 27-APR-2017 12-OCT-2017
(JL6806)
AY76 FUK HEL 09.30 13.55 3/5/6 28-APR-2017 12-OCT-2017

So next summer there will be three HEL-NRT flight within one hour on four days a week

Would it not be possible to shift some flights to the midnight departure, early morning arrival bank in HEL? At least AF does that on CDG-NRT.

Another idea would be to offer some flights to HND. Maybe JAL could move its flights to HND while Finnair continues operate to NRT?

Wow... I wouldn't even think there is so much demand for NRT flights these days...

That wouldn't work schedulewise. HEL-NRT-HEL takes about 21 hours and is thus doable with one plane. But a 6am arrival, 12am departure would require two planes.

A380 to NRT in summer and BKK in winter?
