This is on top of labor action on the 3rd and 5th.
To my understanding that interpretation is not quite correct. The union has announced strike concerning Airpro Oy and all services they provide, which are security checks, as well as passenger, travel and ramp services. Airpro is only one of the companies providing handling and passenger services and mostly the strike should affect only Norwegian and some charter airlines that use Airpro. Security checks, however, affect all passengers, but usually they have managed to arrange security checks in some alternative way, but with probably long waiting times. I haven't found any additional information, but it shouldn't in any case cause a complete shutdown of HEL, as majority of airlines are affected only by delays in security checks.

My finnish isn't that good and google translate is patchy, but

Työnseisaus koskee turvatarkastusta, matkustajapalveluja ja Travel serviceä sekä aula- ja ramp-toimintoja.
Clearly means that HEL will not operate that afternoon. Security will be pretty much shut down. Unions strike for a reason... to inflict pain and nudge negotiations. If there would be no effect, they wouldn't strike.

Good reason to start the weekend early. Thank goodness I almost never fly on Fridays.

Depends on who's striking - IAU as such or only IAU members working for Airpro. Big difference.

The National Conciliator has proposed a settlement. The parties should respond by noon.

So, PRO and PALTA accepted the NC's proposal but IAU didn't. I think some of the planned actions are cancelled now.

If I understood correctly now accepted proposal was only for Pro (cabin crew) dispute. They will resume negotiations between IAU and PALTA tomorrow.

Other strikes concerning Airpro's ground operations starting tomorrow are still on. How much disturbances they will cause, remains to be seen but airport authority Finavia does not seem to anticipate complete shutdowns. Anyways, delays seem to be quite likely.

https://www.finavia.fi/en/news-room/...d-22-february/

The Finnish Aviation Labour Union (IAU) has issued strike notices concerning the ground handling operations and security control services for the following time periods:

03.3.2017 at 14 - 19 pm
06.3.2017 at 03 - 09 am
10.3.2017 at 15 - 19 pm
14.3.2017 at 03 - 09 am
On March 3 the strike would affect the air traffic at Helsinki Airport. The strike would affect airport security control, and ground handling especially on Norwegian flights. Ground handling includes aircraft de-icing, luggage handling, check-in and gate operations.

On March 6 strikes would include also air traffic at some other airports in Finland.

On March 10 & 14 strikes would include air traffic at the airports in Helsinki, Oulu, Vaasa, Tampere and Turku as well as separate charter flights at Rovaniemi and Kittilä airports.

In case the strikes will take place, passengers are kindly asked to reserve enough time and to come to the airport well in advance.

Finavia publishes new information as soon as it is availabe and keeps this page updated. We kindly ask passengers to follow airlines's communication, and if needed contact the airline directly.

Finavia will take every action possible together with the air traffic operators that the effects of possible employee action towards passengers are minimised.

The strike notice of Labour union Pro concerning possible strikes on March 5 and 6 for the cabin crew of three charter airlines TuiFly Nordic, Thomson and Thomas Cook has been cancelled.

Does not look good: it seems that the national conciliator is pessimistic that agreement can be reached. See:
http://valtakunnansovittelija.fi/art...taina-7-3-2017

Next meeting with the NC is on Tuesday.

A friend of mine just checked in and security in T2 was deserted, apparently folks have taken the advise to arrive early since no security lines but T2 terminal is flooded with people fighting for a seat.
Actual security waiting times are here:

In Finnish news Finavia stated that flights have been delayed today but mainly due to challenging weather conditions.

Just received following SMS from AY:

Finnish Aviation Union strike at Helsinki Airport will disrupt Finnair flight traffic on Monday, March 6.
Delays and also some cancellations may occur.
If you cannot change date of travel, we recommend that you travel with hand luggage only.

Maybe they are expecting wider effect on Monday.
