Flights originating from Helsinki do give you more choices. Following is what extra courses I currently see for the HEL-ORD leg:

Food Loverīs Treat

Herb seasoned bratwurst sausages
- Roasted potatoes and onions with fresh tomatoes

***

Chefīs Gourmet

Roasted fillet of reindeer with ale-cranberry sauce
- Potato gratin
- Grilled vegetables

***

Wellness and Energy

Grilled chili marinated prawns with cashew nuts
- Jasmine rice
- Fresh vegetables

Really? That is new.
The "Meals designed for you" menu have "always" only been offered on HEL departures. I am pretty sure they can't cater these locally, so if they indeed are offered on the HEL-inbound your dinner have been flying all day...

It's sad that the people in Kajaani have so little info about meal preorders. I've fought my fights with them, too, when the website doesn't work like it should.

The same alternatives will not be available both ways. Ex-ORD you will be able to preorder the same dishes that are on the regular menu ex-ORD. And those Food Lover etc choices are available only ex-HEL. Pick the reindeer, it's excellent when they don't overcook it!

ORD-HEL definitely back, already loaded into GDS for bookings from April 3, 2017 so it seems it's a month earlier than in 2016

Checkin

Hi I'm flying tomorrow night. Tried to check-in but was not allowed to get boarding pass, I'm checked in but says to get bp at baggage drop.

Bought on ba but finnair flight. Where do I get boarding pass? Would like to get there around 5 but don't want to wait for an agent.

You can most probably print it out at a self-service kiosk.

Just got this update from Finnair on Twitter. Sounds like a bit of a lighter service:

Hello! Following menu is valid during 6.7. - 27.9.2016:

Red cabbage salad with lingonberries
Beef chili con carne
Or
Chicken with pepper cream sauce, spaetzle and Brussels sprouts
Chocolate bar Blue and white

EDIT: This is ORD-HEL

OMG. Is this ex-HEL? What happened to the signature menu designed by Sasu Laukkonen? Or this menu designed by him?
Red cabbage salad with lingonberries? Don't know anything worse than that. Chocolate bar? The one they are selling in Sky Bistro for 2€? Where's the Jymy ice cream?

Beef chili con carne
Maybe it's leftover from the lounge menu and filled with MSG so Asian pax will dig it. ^

To me, sounds like Y class meal.

Forgot to clarify that I'm flying ORD-HEL.

Chrisny2, I wonder if this is the right menu. The Finnish cheeses and Jymy make it sound like an outbound menu ex-HEL. The inbound catering is loaded at the outstation and, while not entirely impossible, I find it highly unlikely that they would have Jymy on offer ex-ORD.

My guess is you got the HEL-ORD menu, not ORD-HEL.
