It is all my cards of all colors and credit companies but I am too poor to buy anything of higher class
I thought there was someone fellow FTer flying only highest classes but did not get credit cards since he was contemplated too poor?

I think I sleep better in Economy Comfort section than in intercontinenal Business class The excitement just keeps me awake in the latter case
And anyhow, unless you actually earn over 1000€ a day, paying for J makes no economical sense. You might as well travel earlier and take time to rest after the flight.

It mightily impressed mine when I went to checkin with her and she was allowed extra luggage on BA while the agent said "it's OK, he's WilcoRoger*, he's a good guy"
*yes, using the FT handle!!

Any airtravel that's self-paid and done for leisure is probably hard to justify economically. That having said, self-paid and AY+ is a bad combo. It's expensive to reach status and to make redemptions for award flights. Furthermore miles expire, which is a PIA for trying to save up anything useful.
I'm not sure how many FF junkies there's around here (not just TMP). Everyone I've talked always appears to be reaching status only because of work. Those with AY dominated travel patterns probably benefit from AY+, but other than that, I'd never hesitate sticking with BAEC, even, if my travel patterns would involve more AY than now, because of work.

If You do your homework and dig fares and different routes, it's not expensive.
Following this forum and attending AY Plus DO's, You'll get more info and you forget those Malaga and Palmas höpöhöpös.

Sure, I bet you can get miles on the cheap for AY+ status, but then again I'm all about tier points and BAEC. The biggest issue for me is that miles (sorry, award points as it's AY+) expire in 3 yrs.
But sure, might attend a meet-up just for the sheer fun of meeting other FF junkies. Not exactly worth throwing a local BAEC DO, only to be the only attendee.

Miles/points do not expire for platinums , as long as you maintain the status. But on the other hand, I am also burning the points fast enough on LH upgrades. Besides it is about time for me to exchange some status points to maintain the plat level. The true boon for me in AY+ program.

In the rare occasion (but only if they have the "8000 points" promo) I use them for short haul upgrades, but also using them to maintain/advance tier levels (used anything between 15K-75K per year).

Thanks for updating me on those points! I didn't know Platinums can keep them.
Because the AY+ award table is pretty miserable, I haven't bothered ever seriously looking into going with AY+. OTOH, I've started to feel crap about BAEC and mainly because of two things: A) BA hasn't enrolled for the fast track at HEL and most other airports and B) handluggage only fares aren't entitled to seat selection prior to check-in, even with BAEC status. Small things, but fast track just makes things click on your airport visits.
Well, at least for the time being I'm not going to fly that ca. 2100€ AY+ Platinum as my travels for this summer are TP hunting. But sure, I'd be happy to hear how crazy routings that requires. I however assume it'd be cheaper to fly that with some short haul and domestic hopping in Asia with CX/JL/MH, rathern than AY?
That segment based qualification for AY+ Plat is literally a PIA, when done in Y, in comparison to flying TPs for a BAEC Gold, when done in CE/CW.
