This.
For me the AY behaviour has lost so much trust that I cannot anymore trust my rescheduled flight will be rescheduled again. Accept one change, comes later another new change, adjust your other plans, snowball grows..."^"

Of course it is a runway maintenance. But AY could manage this better.

OT: how is it possible that HEL is boasting so much about its airport, but if you look the daily departure/arrival lists and see all the delays, you wonder they have 3 tracks out there, whereas LHR for example has only 2 and still doing OK with their traffic. Imagine what happens with HEL expansion plans 2020 and the wished double traffic. And all at the same time to offer the longhaul connections. AND the slim corridors & areas inside the building. From seraphically simple to devilishly difficult...

Well, as always delays can be caused by a number of factors.

I can't say I would have noticed consistent delays at HEL in general, unless you mean specifically due to the runway maintenance.

I could imagine operating on two runways instead of the usual three is likely to entail some procedural changes to traffic management, meanwhile LHR's modus operandi is consistent high traffic on two runways.

I have never seen all three runways used at the same time.

Hmm, I haven't paid attention then.

I guess too much prosecco in the lounge messes with your awareness.

But if the closure of one runway does in fact cause significant delays when two are used normally, that is indeed odd.

Weird. Just daily normal procedures all 3 in use.

Then HEL should stop boasting about its efficiency

I take efficiency in that regard as nr. of flights per runway area in a given time - in that aspect LHT outperforms HEL many times?

Except when it snows or rains or is foggy... I avoid LHR in the winter months as much as possible.

Thanks for the info. We these sh or lh flights? I'm flying to MAD on friday afternoon and I'm wondering whether these adjustments occur especially at rush hour (probably yes)? How long before the flights were you notified?

tack.

Today I saw a lot of Volvo and Caterpillar gear deployed in between the runways.

My affected flights are ....surprise surprise... Flybe operated domestic legs!
And the notifications have come just above 2 weeks out.

I take it as those are the ones hit hardest, no moves so far to my sh euro or longhaul flights.
