A350 longhaul routes
Finnair has announced that the new A350 will enter into service on certain longhaul routes. There are no one-off flights, instead each destination will be served by A350 on the announced date and onwards.

OH-LWA, was delivered on OCT 07 and will service the Helsinki-Shanghai route as soon as the familiarization program has finished and certain operational criteria have been met. Additional A350s will enter the longhaul routes as soon as they are delivered from Airbus.

A359 Long Haul destinations are:

PVG 21NOV15 - 06JAN16 04MAR16 -
BKK AY89/90 19DEC15 -
BKK AY95/96 21JAN16 - 16MAR16 03NOV16 - (operat days 456)
PEK 06JAN16 - 02MAR16 09MAY16-03OCT16 (AY52)
JFK 12JAN16 - 20JAN16
HKG 16MAR16 - (daily A350 service started 08APR16)
ICN 05JUL16 - 16OCT16 (AY42)
NRT 12OCT16 - 14OCT16 (AY74)
SIN 16OCT16 -
SGN 30NOV16 - (operat day 3)

(updated 05NOV16)

N.B!
Finnair has added a note, saying they will enforce normal ticket rules from now on. So far they have been very accommodating allowing cancellation with no penalty if you ticketed for the sole purpose of flying A350 and have gotten equipment change. They will clearly stop doing that.

I am sure I am jinxing it by announcing the list of FT'ers on A350 opening longhaul flight:

November 21th, HEL-PVG, AY57

I guess AY will use the many FAM flights as a way to promote itself, ie trying to get some attention at each of the destination they are visiting. They will surely get some media coverage in each country, and that's fine.

But I am starting to think that the shorthaul activities might outshine the first long haul flight. I mean, it is first on HEL-PVG the aircraft is used as intended, with normal loads in J and with full J service. But if they have a lot of marketing activities during the now extended SH program, will they even do something extra on the NOV 21 flight?

Noooo!

Lufthansa made a nice tin box to hold amenities with A380 "punched out" for that launch. I used to own one, until someone decided it was going to serve as a pencil holder for school.

For those not reading Finnish, I believe this press release is the origin of the article.

That was, on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays A330, A340, or A350 are assigned once daily between HEL and LHR.

Which fligths, seems to vary a bit. E.g., on 16.11.2015 it will be 17:25 flight on A359, and on 14.12.2015 it will be 08:00 flight on A333. Booked 4L for the latter date...

Since first plane has operated for some days already, are there any opinions/experiences which seats are best in business and economy class?

Just a headsup for someone who might think to try out A350 to LHR as weekend holiday, the availability may dry up so hurry to get your seat. I don't know if there are some BA enthusiast out there too, since for example I was told the 15.11. Sunday return is fully booked in business, so I had to choose other dates. Finally got mine, hoping the schedule stays...

Booked AY 667/668 on 3.11., was A359 in the system. Now it's A320. The fourth try and again change of eqpt. Thanks AY. ^

I wouldn't be surprised if eqpt on some of those LHR legs would be swapped as well.

I'm pretty indifferent towards French Queen (mother) but perhaps I'd like to wave goodbye to LQA when that time comes.

No takers for NOV21? I'll be on this one regardless of equipment.
(Far too invested to bail out - It took me 6 shorthaul segments of positioning to get this one to work out)
