Personal Speculation: Is there significance behind DPS?

I was trying to decide on a holiday destination, so naturally, I started browsing the destinations page: http://www.finnair.com/int/gb/destinations/asia-pacific

I became a little curious as to why Bali got its own entry in favour of other destinations like KUL or CGK. Any idea why? Future route maybe?

AFAIK, Finnair has been marketing Bali as a destination for a while - with a connection in southeastern Asia and a non-OneWorld partner obviously.

DPS would fit into the "luxury-leisure" category that Finnair likes, but it does not fit at all into the "northern Asia" strategy. A350 does have the reach to fly HEL-DPS, but flight time will be over 12H, ie AY must use 2 birds on the route if daily. Cannot see that happening.

I think Courmisch is right, it is a partner deal. (interesting it's with JQ and MU. CX HKG-DPS is lovely)
