Finnair is replacing slanted lie-flat J class seats with horizontal lie-flat seats, the Zodiak UK Vantage, on its long-haul fleet.
For more information, see Finnair's website here.
Overall upgrade program status
As of 05DEC14 the following have the new horizontal seats in J:
Routes with horizontal full-flat business class seat
As of the dates below, all flights on listed routes will normally be performed by aircraft with horizontal full-flat seat in business class. Routes not listed will mainly be served by the older A340s or a mix of old & new, supply allowing.
2014-04-01 - NRT, JFK
2014-05-01 - PEK, ICN
2014-06-01 - PVG, KIX, NGO and HAN (seasonal)
2014 winter - HKG (seasonal) *)
*) Original press release stated HKG full-flat from 2014-06-01. Some flights are indeed scheduled with new J, but current info on AY website says HKG full flat only during winter season.
Please note that AY can and will swap aircrafts due to operational reasons, and there is no guarantee a certain route will be served by a certain aircraft. It is a very small fleet and any technical issue not resolved in a few hours will lead to equipment changes, which will have a domino effect throughout the fleet.

- 100% of the 333 fleet (8 of 8 aircraft)
- equivalent to 80% of the long haul fleet (12 of 15 aircraft)

True. I'm coloured by a few recent mishaps.
But making a press release about "dedicating" equipment to some routes is a bit too much for my taste. With 12 birds featuring "new" J, promising to keep 9 routes full flat is not that big IMHO.

Oh, they were quick to install this time - just over a week.
(and you were quick to detect it - I never saw LTP coming home to HEL, was it this afternoon?)

I'm looking forward to my flight on the A330 this weekend, maybe if the French Queen on my return flight at the end of April is too tough I'll just work my way through the wine list a few times for the entire flight...

Just booked an XXX-HEL-SIN/BKK-HEL-XXX in C early May - the seatmaps for both longhauls show A340-300. Can I really be so lucky to get the worst metal in the fleet on both legs?
OK, the XXX legs push down the prices for a very acceptable level (and I actually need to fly them ) but if I were to put 3,5k € ex-HEL towards this I'd be rather upset. (SIN seems to be the most expensive destination down there ex-EUR - something to learn each day)

Could be because of the JV with AA/BA/IB, all partners are supposed to have lie-flat seats for TATL flights..

They read the press release from a week ago and then called AY information desk and asked about the routes not mentioned. There is nothing in the article that you can't find out in the open press material and that we didn't know a week ago.

Well, "we" is a little subjective , but I get your point. I guess my point is that for a traveler magazine focused on the interests of Oz travelers, they do a pretty good job in global coverage and as you mentioned, try to go beyond reprinting press releases.

Apologies, my post came out harder than was intended.
Anyway, HKG being on the list for priority routes should please the oz flyer - even though some connections are not as good as they used too (because of the break up between QF and BA), I'd say it is pretty decent option.

AY back on ftdashboard.net
With the introduction of new C towards the entire fleet, you can now (again) follow the progress by route, pretty much as BA's New First has been tracked for some years now.
For example ftdashboard.net/ay/fleet/a333.htm
