No AY69 tonight

So there is no AY69 tonight - it looks like it is removed from schedule, ie not a irrop cancellation. AY70 is scheduled though. A bird stayed in HKG for check?

A bit odd to cancel a flight during the pre-CNY travel peak. All flights to and from HKG and mainland China are completely full for all of this week up to CNY eve.

Noticed the same thing flying into HEL yesterday. 2 gates reserved for HKT nightflights (Thomas Cook chartered) seemed to be the only non-Schengen flights after 11pm.

Very odd to lower number of flights before CNY, yes. I'd be surprised if AY wasn't able to fill 2 daily flights these days. Other things must be behind this (like tying up metal to charter flights to Cuba and thailand)

AY81 (HEL-SIN) is down to 4 weekly, and will be like this until end of march. Together with the AY69 debacle that makes HEL pretty quiet some nights.

It was cancelled.

FIN69 OH-LQD departed around midnight and just before entering Russia airspace after about 15 minutes flight, it turned back to HEL and that was it.

From AY's own flight stat it seems they tried to get it to fly later, advancing estimated take off 0,5hours at the time. At 5 am they gave up? No word on what the trouble was?

Well, today my source was Flightradar.

FIN1989 (OH-LQF) to VRA turned back to HEL after 20 min flight and after changing VRA metal to another French Queen (LQG) it was only a matter of time when new estimated time for 69'er would be announced.
