I've done the DC3 HEM-HEM "local flight" before, it was fun and super nostalgic, and very nice views of Helsinki, remember to take your camera. Definitely worth doing.

For this summer I booked a DC3 day trip with about 1 hour flight each way (Hämeenlinna aviation museum 22JUL) as I want to get the experience of what "real travel" was like back in the day.

I also visited the AA "CR Smith" museum near DFW, they had the DC3 story pretty well described, as reportedly AA's Smith was "responsible" for convincing Douglas to build the "new huge" DC3.

If nothing else, I say you should to do the DC3 for the sound. No annoying modern harsh turbo-prop sound, real engines with real old-timer sound.

To replace the missing lounge experience, I'll buy a beer for any FTers on 22JUL ;-)

And the entire flight chartered for FTs as I understand this group can get somewhat loud.

Also in for a HEM-HEM DC3 miniDO! I wonder if you can charter it outside of the planned flights?

I guess you could try to negotiate with them, although there are flights with 10+ seats available which should be sufficient.

+1 for HEM. Any seat. Y, comfort, plus, lie-flat, J, F, X, I don't care. I can take a parachute as well.

May I propose Wednesday June 14th for the HEM-HEM flight?

15 seats available so it has sufficient space if around the same amount FT:ers as the LHR DO attends.

To my understanding you have to be member to participate to DC3 flights. It is 30€ yearly and you can join when you enroll for the flight.

I am on 2nd June 1800 flight (first time after 10 years of membership). It is also HEM cruising night - there is a few hundred classic car enthusiasts gathering in HEM on every first Friday of the month during summer. If you like classic (mainly US) cars and like to combine that with classic airplane flying that is your place to be.

PM if you are perhaps joining on 2nd June.
