Finnair promo to increase awareness of the AY+ partners.

Promo was originally reported in the new promotions thread, but triggered major discussion and found a new home here.

The "New promotions" thread works best for reporting details of promotions and serves as a repository of current and historical promos.

Part of the AY+ vendors award points for purchases made from the vendor, others allow points redemption of awards (such as restaurant vouchers) only.

Vendors from which points can be received through purchases:
-Belizia (Samsonite suitcases, etc.)
-Decanter (Kitchen supplies)
-Moomin Shop (All kinds of Moomin materials)
-RTV-yhtymä (Hardware store)
-SSP Finland (Restaurants at Helsinki airport, minimum 15 € purchase)
-Tax Free Plus
-Timanttiset
-Finnair Plus Shop (Home deliveries only, beware of 6 € delivery fee)
-Lentoparkki (Airport parking)
-Suomen Urheiluopisto (Vierumäki)
-Joutsen stores (Dove coats, etc. but apparently cheapest item is 12 € dove shampoo)
-Various hotel chains
-Various car rental companies

Relatively effective points redemptions:
-Lippu.fi, 250 points minimum spend
-Finnkino, 400 points minimum spend

Credit cards etc., points awarded for card usage
-AY Co Branded cards
-Stockmann loyalty card

Not too shabby: 25€ (plus change) value for 2k points (and 1/5th of 5000 points of the promo, so at the end of the day a 25€ value for 1k points) Pay with AY DC, and it drops to 25€ for 925 points

On Finnkino ticket shop you can apparently choose the points you're going to use, so I guess using 1-10 points is alright? Tax-free Plus is easy to get on a non-EU flight.
I can tell that my only motivation to spend time at RTV with my wife was I knew I will accrue some points

Just make sure when you pay to tell them that they really register the AY number in the transaction and it will post

Thanks HJP, I will do the same. Not sure if every month but hey.

OT: would you HJP mind checking your KRIL case in the EU261 thread for update in WIKI? I did not find information how your case ended.

Easyish 5k points at least for AY CC holders.

Planning to "do":

SEB MC
SEB DC
Stockmann
Tax Free Plus
Royal Ravintolat gift card (best value in AY+ shop with 1000p), basically -40% for your meals without restrictions.. if you want to take only liquid salad it also works in Löyly for the summer )

Mastercard is obviously listed.

There's Nordea (Finnair Plus) Mastercard, SEB Mastercard and Mastercard (Finnair Plus) Estonia on the list.

And still nobody knows what is the SEB SMF Mastercard, also listed. But the SEB site has no mention of it at all

I will, but my case is still open. KRIL hasn't commented anything yet, I rejected AY's last "offer" in early December...

I think these will be my first five partners:

AY DC
Stockmann (Groceries)
Royal Ravintolat (€100 voucher = for €56.xx + 1000p)
Lentoparkki (1 day parking at HEL for 9,30€ instead of going by train)
SOL suit laundry (€35.xx + 1000p = bad value, but I need this)

If you don't need the loundry per se, a cheaper option to have a "hit" is an Airport-Hämeenlinna voucher with Expressbus, for 12,72€ + 1500p. But you can't beat Decanter's koristeluraappa for 2,90€

Can we have two flies with one hit? Pay with AY DC for the koristeluraappa?

I got a feeling koristeluraappa will replace the sombreros as the gimmick of next DO.

Hah.
Had to google what is koristeluraappa and yes, it looks like a necessary tool every AY-FT'er should own.

There's a small amount of figuring best value to the game ff_flyer posted, figuring best odds vs points cost - they give you x amount of 'tokens' after you pick three boxes/cards, you spend them on different raffles/prize draws. I went for all all 12000 points for 3 entries to a 1/1000 game for 2 shorthaul upgrades, seemed better value than smaller amounts of points than an upgrade costs...
