2009 Fairmont Platinum package arrives!

I thought this event deserved a new thread since I've always been so critical of how long it's taken Fairmont to send out their status packages in the past.

Same certificates as last year - 2 suite, 2 room upgrades, 1 free night, 4 x $25 off lunch/dinner/spa (don't recall that spa was included last year)

At first glance, as far as the benefits go the only one I don't recognize is "Complimentary use of Lexus courtesy vehicles in US Hotels & Resorts" (Lexus benefit is based on availability and may not be reserved in advance of arrival at the hotel.) Has anyone had any experience with this one?

They guarantee both early arrival and late checkout. I don't remember early arrival being guaranteed in the past, but I've never had a problem with my room not being available when I've arrived early either.

The Fairmont Olympic has always offered a compementary town car for guests. I use it quite a bit. Great perk.

Spa is new this year - I guess to make up for the removal of complimentary willow stream spa access in the past. Guaranteed early arrival has always been included. Last year my room wasn't ready upon check in at the Calgary Fairmont and they sent me to the bar for a complimentary drink and then the all you can each death by chocolate buffet - so always good to seem put out by the 'inconvenience'

I am really happy to get the package in January - instead of April as I did last year!

Since there is no mention of any airline miles bonuses I think it is safe to assume that either miles are gone altogether or at least the bonuses are gone. I wish they would spend less on gloss and more on benefits. The use of the $100 in certs at Willow Stream is a difference this year but a few years ago a massage and spa access were included in addition to the food certificates!

Did you hit Premier or Platinum level? It took about 4 weeks after I reached the levels.

Are the gift cert and upgrade etc... transferable. Like can I give them to family?

Nope. I just checked the T&Cs and it states that "Certificates are non-transferable."

If you keep reading, on the back of the certificate is says the following:

"Certificate is non-transferable, except to immediate family meaning: parent, adult child, spouse(including common law) and siblings."

So, it is transferable within your immediate family.

Premier package

I know that upgrade cert are tracked centrally but are the $25 meal/spa cert also tracked centrally? For some reason I got sent two 2009 Premier packages...one a few weeks ago and one came this week. Just wondering if I would be able to use up all 4 meal/spa certs? I wish I could use up all the extra certs therefore double dipping but I doubt that can happen.

Well you could combine them and use them in one shot. Or in one trip. It isn't your fault that you were sent two sets.

I have received two platinum packages in the past as well, back when you got the 2 x $50 certificates, not 4 x $25. If I recall, I did use the 4 that year.
