Fairmont Monte Carlo

So I'm planning a trip to next year's grand prix and I was wondering if the regular Fairmont View room would have a nice view of the race. I contacted Fairmont and they said that only the grand prix suite would have a view, which seems odd. Wouldn't all the rooms in that section of the hotel have the same view?

The race runs under the hotel so I'd safely assume Fairmont wasn't pulling you leg when they say only a few top rooms feature a track view.

The famous tunnel section (running under the Fairmont Hotel, marked in grey in the circuit diagram above) is said to be difficult for drivers to cope with due to the quick switch from light to dark, then back to light again, at one of the fastest points of the course

They haven't relaunched their site yet for 2010 but they had a separate website for the 2009 event. Here's a link which has a lot of details on room type options, events and other things going on during F1: http://www.fairmontmontecarlogp.com/en/en_index.html

Wow the prices are ridiculously high. I expected paying double or triple regular rates, but that's like 25 times regular rate.

I entertained the idea until they came out with the price list too. There's only a few rooms with a view of the down hill hairpin turn. Have you thought about a normal room and a grandstand seat? It may make for better viewing and you'll have left over money to go to a second race.

The view from the Fairmont Monte Carlo

In reality the FMC is situated in the middle of the Grand Prix F1 circuit ... facing the "lowest" hairpin of all the F1 GP circuits ! There are in total 52 rooms overlooking the hairpin and 4 Grand Prix suites ! But on the top floor (7th), next to the pool, there is place for all the hotel's clients to watch the F1 GP in the real "pole position" !!!

Wow thanks for letting us know! Anyway have any pictures of the views fromt he 7th floor? I presume all hotels guests are invited and they have decent seating and a nice spread of food. I'm also curious what the prices are at during the GP for rooms

Stay lower down in Beau Rivage, cheaper and more to see. If you get low enough you can into pit exit with binocs. Also, more people lower down, so the party is better. I've met more people balcony to balcony than in any nightclub or meeting. :-)
