Chase Suite u/g good for more than 2 consecutive nights?

I recently booked my 2 free nights at the San Francisco Fairmont and applied the Suite u/g. We have now decided to stay one more night in The City. If we booked a paid 3rd night through Fairmont.com would they apply the Suite u/g to this night too? I've never seen the TOS on the Suite u/g. I'll call if no one is sure.

Another ?: If I book a room through a third party site (Orbitz or PL) can I apply a Room or Suite u/g at check in?

Suite upgrade works for up to 5 nts however when you have separate reservations fpc probably won't be able to help. I would contact hotel and explain the situation - in a similar situation they pulled one cert and applied it to two separate reservations.

Yes third party booked reservations are OK for upgrades (not clear if PL NYOP or HW are included); again some mentioned that often it is easier to sort things out by calling hotel and not fpc

A suite upgrade is valid for up to five consecutive nights. You should be able to have the two reservations linked by the hotel and have one suite upgrade cert applied. I´ve done this on various occasions when I had booked two different rates and never encountered any issues.

Just for future reference: The more elegant way to go about this is to make a three nights booking, and then apply the suite upgrade cert and the two free night certs.

This is one of the more ambigious issues with FPC. The T&C say that "some third party bookings are excluded", afaik this definitely applies to bidding sites (Priceline, Hotwire); there have been contracdictory reports whether this also applies to Orbitz, Expedia etc.

In any case my usual advice is to contact the hotel directly during regular business hours and ask whether they´d be willing to match the rate.
I don´t think anyone whom I´ve given this advice didn´t succeed, and it´s much better to have a res directly with Fairmont.

I called the Fairmont SF directly and talked to a rez. agent about adding a 3rd night, applying my Suite u/g, and price matching a Kayak or Orbitz rate. The gal said she couldn't but xferred me to Global Rez. This lady said that if she can see the price online they will match it (that eliminates PL $ Hotwire)!! She said it was co. policy. The 3rd party sites were all $237/$238 for a Fairmont Queen. She checked Orbitz and said it's a go. However, it is a nonrefundable rate so be sure you're going before you pay. She also applied the Suite u/g & I'll have the same Suite for 3 nights. Needless to say, we are happy campers.

Thanks for the help!

Ok I am likely to get this card for myself and Mrs MA in about one months time when my next churn cycle is up. That means I will not likely see the free night certs until around October time. Trouble is I want to book now as we are looking to use at the Fairmont Tremblant around the very busy Christmas week.

Question is - can I book a flexible revenue rate now and then have FPC customer service switch that booking at a later date to the certs?

I actually plan on using four nights (two from each card) plus one Ovation cert that I will get via Aeroplan for a 5 night stay, and apply our one suite upgrade to the whole thing. I am hoping that will work.

I would book your 5 nights now, refundable rate, and have CS change later.

Thanks philemer, have done that. Just thinking about it, will I be able to use one suite upgrade to cover a series of booking consisting of one two night under my name, one two night under my wife's, and then a third ovation cert booking?

Yes, that shouldn't be a problem at all.

So now my next question. I just looked at The Plaza Breakfast menu:
http://www.theplaza.com/pdf/menu/Pal..._Breakfast.pdf

Somewhat pricey. Not sure how they can realistically expect somebody to have an even halfway proper breakfast there for $25. A CONTINENTAL breakfast there is $34. (+ tax & tip). If you order a fairly realistic breakfast of a waffle, side of bacon, OJ, & coffee.................it would run you $45 (BEFORE tax & tip). The $50 worth of Visa certs allotted to this stay won't even come close to covering the 2 of us in the room.

I know on another thread somebody asked about the breakfast limit at Savoy and I answered based on my experience with Ovation certs, that they don't really give a limit, and when we were finished no bill came, we were good to go. However Ovation certs specifically say they include breakfast for 2. Whereas the Visa certs specifically say they are good for $25 apiece (so $50 for 2 people in the room per free night). Anybody think they will be lenient like with Ovation certs? Or sticklers for the $25 voucher and we might end up paying over $70 for this "free breakfast for 2"?

Note that I do see the flip side of this equation: That if they ARE sticklers, then you can just as easily save the $25 vouchers and redeem them at a Fairmont location with much cheaper breakfast prices, and in fact you might be able to squueze 3-4 people in on $50 worth of breakfast. So not sure there's exactly a right or wrong answer here, I'm just curious how it will play out....................

May have been deserved. I know I've seen posts stating that free nights qualify for stay credit.

Free Night certs have qualified in the past, but that may be changing, based on the text at the bottom of my "stay history" profile.

Eligible Stays
Certain rates do not qualify toward tier status. Stay credit will not be awarded for contracted airline crew rates, travel industry rates, travel agent rates, tour group escort rates, complimentary rooms, and stays using award certificates.

Emphasis mine.

Miles most definitely do not count on Friends and Family rates or Certificate stays. So you my friend got lucky.

I recently had to cancel a stay, but was given a resort credit instead of a refund, and was credited with a stay, most likely by accident.

I noticed this qualification for 3 years now.. thankfully, our stays have been credited, as pretty much each stay we utilize a certificate of one form or another.. whether a $25 dining cert, passion cert, suite/room upgrade, etc.

Paper & online Breakfast certs for $25

We're at the SF Fairmont now thanks to Chase & Fairmont. We got a named Suite on the 3rd floor, main bldg. Lovely hotel & lovely suite.

I was curious about the 4 paper Breakfast certs for $25 and the 4 online e-certs of the same name so I asked the lady at the FD. She said they are the same. You don't get a total of 8. I had 'assumed' that but wanted to triple check.

BTW, the breakfast buffet is now $30 plus 15% gratuity plus 9% tax. So breakfast for 2 was a shade under $75. Most expensive breakfast I ever ate. The lady at the FD said we could 'settle up' at check out.

We'll be using the 2 $25 dining certs for dinner tonight. I'm sure the bill we be a wee bit higher than breakfast.

Do the points earned from spend on the card only show up on the monthly Chase statements?
