I am looking at starting off a 2010 Platinum run with a weekend in Vancouver with one or two nights at Hotel Vancouver, one night at Vancouver Waterfront. I have been pricing nfaf rates and the Waterfront is offering Gold rooms as an option (Come on Fairmont, confirm nfaf is good for 2010!).

We have two generally well behaved teenagers ages 14 & 16. I couldn't find any info online about children and the Gold ammenities, other than someone smuggling out some canapes to their younger children. I could call and ask the hotel, but I didn't want any marketing bias (to book gold, or to keep the kids away...). What is the first hand guest experience? Kids not allowed in the lounge at all? Okay for breakfast? Would we be looked down upon by other guests as an intrusion everytime we walked into the lounge?

Thanks for your help/advice!

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 3, 2009) - Committed to providing anticipative service and a personalized luxury experience that its guests have come to know and expect, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts has expanded its partnership with BMW to offer members of the brand's guest loyalty program, Fairmont President's Club (FPC), complimentary access to BMW X5 xDrive 35d Sport Activity Vehicles during their stay. The new Advanced Diesel-powered hotel courtesy vehicles, available at Fairmont's world-class hotels across Canada, will be on hand to transport guests around the destination in style. Guests may be chauffeured for a range of purposes including attending meetings outside the hotel, exploring the local destination and much more.

"Like Fairmont, BMW is a highly respected brand that is well known for its dynamic product offerings and steadfast dedication to service," said Brian Richardson, Vice President, Brand Marketing for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. "Consequently, we believe synergies exist on a number of levels and are excited to be working with BMW on this experiential marketing initiative. Furthermore, the addition of high performance luxury vehicles to our collection of amenity offerings enables us to extend the luxury experience outside of the hotel, while providing our most frequent guests with a benefit that will enhance their travel experience. "

The BMW X5 xDrive 35d is equipped with an array of latest-generation EfficientDynamics diesel technology, and is amongst the most efficient and cleanest running BMW vehicles ever produced for the Canadian market. With an average fuel consumption of 9.3 L/100km, this Sport Activity Vehicle is the most fuel efficient in its class, and is fully compliant with Canadian emissions regulations for nitrogen oxides. The variable twin turbo 3.0 litre inline six cylinder engine boasts an astounding 425 lb-ft of torque and 265 hp, while producing 25% less CO2 emissions than comparable gasoline powered engines.

"Providing Fairmont with a fleet of efficient and dynamic BMW X5 Advanced Diesels represented an excellent opportunity to showcase our growing product line of Advanced Diesel and ActiveHybrid technology to a highly coveted group of luxury travelers from around the world," said Marc Belcourt Brand Communications Manager BMW Group Canada. "Being able to support Fairmont's most loyal customers with luxury transportation, while introducing people to our most attractive products is an exciting and rewarding proposition. Placing our low emission, Advanced Diesel technology at luxury properties in city centres and pristine resort settings furthers our commitment to and encourages a more efficient and dynamic driving experience."

Expanding on their relationship, Fairmont and BMW will also work closely on a number of exciting co-branded marketing opportunities and will extend special benefits and privileges to their respective network of frequent guests and loyal customers. Earlier this year, Fairmont introduced a complimentary hotel bicycle service featuring BMW Cruise Bikes at select hotels across Canada. The state-of-the-art bikes grant active and adventurous travellers the opportunity to tread lightly on the environment and explore the landscapes of Fairmont's distinctive locales on a dynamic mode of transportation.

This thoughtful new benefit is reserved exclusively for members of Fairmont President's Club. Free to join, FPC provides guests with special benefits and privileges designed to reflect individual travel preferences and offer an enhanced level of service. Personalized travel profiles afford members customized stay experiences, while in-hotel benefits include private check-in, complimentary room upgrades, adidas workout gear, free high-speed Internet access, and TaylorMade golf clubs at select locations. Guests can enrol at time of booking or online at www.fairmont.com/fpc.

However, I am quite sure that I could get the Fairmont for the same dates through Hotwire for $78 night, total savings would be around $60-70. If I end up booking the Hotwire rate, would I still be eligible for FPC benefits such as the complimentary internet, free Taylormade golf rentals...? If not then I will keep my reservation as is but if I can still get those benefits and pay a lower price then I think I'll switch.

Thanks for any advice!

I just signed up for FPC this weekend. Mrs. pdx_fam and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary next July and we are planning on going to Hawaii. I am thinking that if we take the kids (teenagers) on a spring break (end of March) circuit of Victoria-Vancouver-Whistler-Vancouver-Seattle, we could make premier status quickly and have a fun spring break trip.

Any reason this wouldn't work? Will it make a significant difference on our Hawaii trip? I am hoping to use promotional rates (great rates, great dates, nfaf, etc.) where possible.

If we split the Hawaii trip up, say two days at the Orchid and three days at Kea Lani, that would get us up to seven stays by my math... Might even make platinum with another summer trip!

Thanks for any response, I appreciate the knowledge on this site!
