Hi.

I'll be travelling with my fiancé next year from OSL to BKK via HEL. We will arrive at HEL around 21:35 and connect to the 23.50-flight HEL-BKK.

I'm the only one with status, BAEC Silver (OW Sapphire), and we're both travelling in Y.

Which lounge can we access during our connection in HEL? I hope there is possibility to guest my fiancé into the lounge with me? I have also read on the Finnair website that they serve a dinner buffet in the lounge before the 23.50-flight to BKK. Will we be able to enjoy this dinner buffet or is this restricted to J-class pax/OW Emeralds?

Thanks for helping out!

PS. This will be our first AY-flights ever, so we are looking forward to try it ;)

Hi all,

I'm working on my school project and basically the task is to compare different loyalty/corporate programs for business travellers.

I'm looking for answers on the subject: what are the clear benefits/weaknesses of Finnair Plus right now? What kind of solutions would get you to fly constantly on Finnair?

Is it only about the mile/point acquiring that makes you pick your airline, or is there something else? (quality of service etc.)

As you alll know, the competition is crazy at present, since the low-cost carriers are consuming a huge market share from the legacy carriers. It really comes down to the question: who has the best deals for a traveller? (a business traveller on this occasion).

Thank you so much in advance, I hope this sparks a bit of a conversation.

What has happened to AY one-way fares?

The title pretty much sums it up - on some routes (ARN and TLL, most noticeably, but also RIX and VNO) AY used to offer some decently priced one-way tickets, probably due to competition (SK has been using a completely one-way based pricing model for years now etc.) - and booking the flights on Expedia and thus avoiding the ridiculous 20 EUR service charge from Finnair's site made these some excellent value deals. Just a few weeks ago I booked such a fare for HEL-RIX one-way for around 70 EUR.

I needed some flights to ARN for next year and could't find any one-way fares whatsoever below the standard full fare Y, which is about six times as much as KF/SK want for a simple HEL-ARN flight with a very similar schedule. I tried looking for TLL as well, and same story here - only full fare Y.

Did the previous one-way fares expire around this time and nobody at the AY fare desk has yet loaded a new batch in or what is going on?

I know that AY is struggling with low yields, but IMHO it's still better to fly a seat with low yield than an empty seat. This is causing me to shift more and more of my business over to the competition (SK/KF and BT mainly), I'd be willing to pay a reasonable premium for flying AY (maybe around 20 EUR for these short flights) for the miles and lounge access, but AY is giving me no choice.

Hi guys,
I'm new here and would like to ask for an advice. I was stupid enough to sign up with Finnair Plus and accumulated 16,500 points. I also have AAdvantage, OnePass and SkyMiles accounts. It is impossible to transfer points unless I have 20,000 and even then the exchange rate is ridiculous (like 10,000 Priority Club points for 20,000 FP points :( ). So, would you suggest what could I possibly do with those rather then just sticking them in the obvious place? There's an Avis offer for 3 days over the weekend for 20,000 FP, do you think this would be possible to get a car for 4 days for these points and a $100 Avis voucher? Thanks in advance.

(I still prefer to fly to Europe on Finnair though. The service is much better then AA or BA, for example. But I collect all 100% miles to my AA).

A simple question to "old" FlyerTalkers. I'm scheduled to move to Finland next May and therefore I've already joined the AY Plus program. For the time being I'm BA Silver, which is an equivalent to AY Gold.

Since we'll stay in Finland for some years to come, I've started collecting AY points... in view of upgrades and other fun.

When collecting AY points, with , can I still use the BA priviledges (C class check-in and lounge access) even when travelling in Y? Meaning entering the lounge with BA Silver even though my boarding card shows a AY Plus number... Or vice versa?

Thanks for your answers!
