Hi everyone-- been reading and learning for a little while and just recently started considering doing a MR (yep, you guessed it-- the CO DEQM deal!).

Was Silver this year, and after a taste, definitely looking to keep Silver for next year, maybe go for Gold.

I'm currently at 18,900, so I'm a ways off from Gold, but I figure with 2-3 good flights I might be able to make it.

I think I've figured out how to use ITA, I've found a flight which yielded the best CPM I could find (2.48) and is same day turn:

$299ai EWR-IAH-SJC-IAH-EWR, 5:30am out, 11:45pm back, 12/14. (I think this is good also on 12/8 and a few other dates). I am able to fly on weekdays with a flex schedule, so this works out.

How does this compare? Are there better runs from EWR right now with the DEQM? (I did see one from EWR-IAH-ONT-IAH-EWR 11/27 for 2.34 CPM, but I can't go on that day...)

Also, thinking of getting status on UA too-- but I can't figure out how to book those crazy routings people post about. I can only put in 7 flights, and when I skip some airports and choose the ones with stops that give me the same routing, I don't get the same fare that was posted, for example the LGA-IAD-SAN-LAX-SFO-ORD-ORF-IAD-LGA deal that was posted for $273. How would you book this flight?

Thanks for any help! I have 22 hours to cancel the EWR-IAH-SJC flight...

So I'm looking at doing a semi-MR leaving Nov 21 and coming back Nov 22 evening / Nov 23 morning. BHM is a couple of hours away and looks like I can do BHM-ATL-PDX outbound & return PDX-LAX-MEM-BHM. LAX to MEM is a redeye but I understand that the LAX Skyclub is basically open most of the night, so it shouldn't be too huge a problem.

$250 on DL.com

It comes out to around 5c/EQM, and with the AMEX Credit Card double, about 13,500 RDMs at a little less than 2c/mile.

I don't really need the miles because I'm just DL silver & still far off from Gold, but I need to get out of town for a couple of days, could use a few thousand more DL miles for a future trip, and have never been to Portland. Now I'm just checking to see if this is a fairly good deal for my purposes or if there's anything I can do to make the routing a little nicer.

Hello All-

I am contemplating a MR SLC-PHX-TPA-PHX-SLC. I know it seems kind of weak, but hey its my first MR. I'm doing the USAir mileage challenge, I only need 4k miles to hit silver. I found a fare for $268 r/t with the additional "beach destination bonus" of 5k miles, I'd get almost 9.5k miles. I think it comes out to like 2.7cpm. Should I pull the trigger? I feel like if I do this once, there is no turning back. :)

I'd get into TPA at approx 7p on Dec.12, anyone want to guest me into the US lounge? ;)

Thanks in advance for the advice

Given that I'm trying to avoid hotels and have a shot at least at upgrades, this seemed the best I could muster. EWR-HNL is a bit less, but routing via LAX requires an overnight stay; TATL flights would be in the back for sure.

I've got about 23 hours to refund.

Thoughts?

Hi everyone,

I've had a hard time finding any good mileage runs out of ORD on UA for anytime between now and the end of the year. I need 5560 ACTUAL miles flown to hit the next status level. Money is tight right now, but I'm stupid enough to spend what I have on trips like these for status. So, if anyone has any creative ideas of how I can do this for the cheapest amount possible, ideally under $0.02/mile, I'd be very much in debt to you. Thanks for the consideration.

PS. If you can find me something that is on the weekend and is under $300 with taxes, I'll send you a nice little gift in the mail - useful if you like Starwood Hotels :-)

Thank you!!!

Any sweet ideas/deals to get the needed miles by flying out of DCA? I'd be willing to pay a few extra dollars to fly less hours. (e.g. - Fly to Boston is $50 more round trip than flying to LAX, assuming Boston would give me the necessary miles)

Hey! I've been addicted to this routing, but I'm obviously not doing it right ...

I'm on my way to being Platinum for 2010 but would like to become Diamond.

1. I am Currently Gold on the verge of Platinum (72 segments, 71,551 miles)
2. I'm looking at the cost effectiveness of getting to Diamond. The EOY Pro Forma would be something around 76k. I'd need 49k to get to Diamond.
3. Based in MSP
4. Nowhere I'd really like to go, if a long layover is a must, somewhere with a nice SkyClub would be great! ^
5. I'd love to do it all in one weekend, any weekend between now and December 12/13. Or if international travel is necessary/effective, I could take one or two days off on either ends.
6. I'd like to amass as many miles for as little as possible, there are those who say 0.02$ is a rate per mile you should shoot for, I'm simply not doing it right or not searching the right places.

Thanks for the help, preemptively. I know I'm much of a lurker here, as I'm just starting out on a traveling career.

Offering choice of gift card, DL/UA/AA miles or movie tickets!

Hi all,

Due to a miscalculation (I thought I was getting 1.5 MQM on an upcoming flight, but I confirmed today that it's not true) I need 4300 miles from MSP. I'd like to stay around $250 if I can. I would like to do it in one trip, rather than two (so I am not really interested in two MKE runs). I have only the weekends of 12/5 and 12/12 available at this point, although I could maybe do a weekday run the last week of December.

I've been trying to force another segment into MSP-ATL-CHS-ATL-MSP but not having any luck.

Any suggestions are welcome!
