Yesterday I rebooked a flight including a OS VIE > BKK leg. After rebooking I discovered there was a lot of C/D/Z seats available, so I checked with ROP about an upgrade using my miles. ROP confirmed availability, but were giving me the run around, at 3am local time I gave up and flicked to my travel agent back in MEL to deal with TG while I slept. This morning I awaoke to an email from my agent telling me that due to some issue on OS's end TG couldn't book the upgrade and I should contact TG in France.

This morning when I contacted TG in France I got a lot of different stories, but eventually it was all ok, "just wait for the confirmation email sir". Later I get a call telling me that during the processing of my upgrade OS closed the flight. It doesn't depart for more than 28hrs?! The flight has disappeared from seatcounter.com, yet OS is still selling seats on this flight on their website.

I am pretty annoyed. Based on my recent experiences with OS, I suspect it is their fault, but I can't be sure. The TG booking rep could "understand [my] frustration, sir", but "there is nothing I can do".

I really don't want to spend another 10hrs in OS 772 in Y. I have the miles, I know there are seats, is there anything I can do?

I will be taking TG F from NRT to BKK in the next few months in the future, I am wondering if I should pre-order the meal, or the Flight meal is better.

I appreciate all feedback from anyone with experiences.

We need to fly in the morning and time is important, so our only options are CX 700 (773 with old seats) or TG 600 (744).
The Thai flight is an all-in better price than CK, so I was planning on the business seats on the upper deck, then saw the prices for F, which are tempting (for 2 seats J is US$900 and F is $1,100).
It's a morning flight, so we won't be sleeping and the meal will be breakfast.
Would appreciate thoughts of J upper deck or F for US$ 200 more.
Thanks!

Hi, any regular buyers of TG tickets in Bangkok, note that there is a Return C class ticket available through the TAs. BKK- MEL/BNE/SYD -BKK that could become extra special if the dollar rises as expected. My circle swear that the Aust dollar will peak at 35 this year, and return business class tickets purchased in Baht @ 71000++ become a bargain. The catch is the flight is valid on 451 SYD, 473 BNE, 461 MEL, not exactly the best times, and non refundable. Currently the TG page is offering OW to BKK for 339 in Y. TG may have been slow to discount, now they are out there with a vengance, regards bkkrop

Just wondered if anyone has any experiences of redeeming it "just in time" i.e. a few hours before check-in? My question is whether they can process this on day of travel or is it something that needs to be sorted before then?

I'm hopeful a seat may become available at the last minute.

Return leg early Dec is not a problem as far as availabilities go.

It's one of the joys of TG that one is often wonderfully surprised with the equipment that we fly on. Out of DPS they supplied a 772, out of HKG a beautiful older style but comfortable 747, and of course now days on the way home to MEL the 773 which is a delight to fly. The service on the ground and on board has changed overnight. Someone is turning this airline around, lovely to see, I would love TG to return all the way back to the days when customers were welcomed and TG didn't get heated and annoyed when something wrong happened and paxs complained, they just dealt with it. I was flying on the cheapest of the cheap TG tickets which I thought you couldn't do anything with and was surprised that I could upgrade and turn them into mileage producers. Dazz81 thanks for pointing me in the right direction, for ages I have avoided these, assuming that they were a waste of money if what I wanted was mileage, but they "seem" to be working, well I will know for sure in a couple of weeks. Couldn't help myself, picked up some very cheap F tickets out of SYD, AU$3475, all paid, for BKK return and $2750 for business, and for there is an even cheaper BKK-MEL available if you fly the 8am departure. regards bkkrop

Hi there, as part of one of my awards to Japan in summer 2010 I will be flying from BKK-NRT (booked with US miles). At the moment TG's schedule is showing 747 on all afternoon flights and alternating 747 and 744 on the morning flight.
I have flown both aircraft in F before although I have only flown the 747 between BKK and HKG. I find it ok for such a short journey but wouldn't really like it for a 6 hour flight!

Anyway my dilemma is that I need 2 F seats and currently I can find 2 F seats on the morning flight operated by 747 but only one on the morning flight operated by 744. So a few questions:

1) Is it likely that TG will actually still have the same schedule by August 2010? i.e it won't matter which aircraft I book on because both have equal possibility of being 747/744?
2) Does TG ever release award seats instantly after one has been taken? i.e if I booked 1 F on 744 is it likely that another F seat instantly appears on same flight?
3) If I snap the one F seat on 744 and put the second person in C. How likely is it that another F seat is released between now and July?

What would you do in my situation?

Thanks ^

*Will be the first time my girlfriend has flown in F and I want to make sure she has the best possible experience :)

Trying to plan a trip to Koh Samui (USM) from Hong Kong. It would be HKG-BKK on TG and then BKK to USM on PG. If I am not mistaken, there should be an interline agreement between TG and PG. Thus, on the way back, I would be checking in at USM, receive all my boarding passes, luggage would be tagged to HKG, and I would be proceeding with exit immigration at USM ? Travel agent keeps telling me that TG advises all passengers should have 2 hours of connection time at BKK to collect luggage and re-checkin, which I know is not true if I was flying TG all the way. The only situation I can think of is that PG would not allow "international" and "domestic" passengers on the same flight, but even then the luggage should be tagged all the way and I should not have to pick up my bags at BKK.... Your advice is highly appreciated......

Hi,

Is one hour enough of connection time at Suvarnabhumi airport from International to Domestic ?

I do realize that there have been similar questions from International to International connections
and Domestic=>International, but I did not find any helpful posts describing the situation this way around.

I am flying from FRA to BKK on LH772 arriving in Suvarnabhumi at 15:05 local time on January 1, 2010 and continuing to Koh Samui on the same day. There is a Thai Airways flight TG287 from BKK departing at 16:05, leaving one hour to transit from International arrivals to Domestic departures.

We are flying with hand luggage only in business class on LH and could book business on the Thai flight as well, if that would in any way speed up the transit.

So, no need to collect any luggage at Suvarnabhumi, but is one hour enough to transit? It will be new year's day, so not much people travelling on that day I would presume.

Does anyone know how to go about when doing an International to Domestic transit at BKK, just clear immigration at some dedicated point or need to visit the transit desk also ?

I would appreciate any help from fellow travelers. :)
