Hi, quick question. I need to travel from Manchester to Edinburgh in jan and was wondering if I go via heathrow would I get double the amount of status miles than just man-edi. The former is booked through ebookers the later bmi. There is only a difference of £21. I really could do with extra status miles and I've got a few hours spare both ways. Also would my bags be checked through to final destination? Thanks

Some of you remember last year's drinks bmi Dublin Drinks - Thursday December 18th 2008.

I'm suggesting Thursday 3rd December as a date for the nearly annual bmi drinks in Dublin. It will give us a chance to kick around the new program enhancements over a beer - maybe go for pizza as well.

Anyone interested?

So, in the times of SkyCream, CM (and allies, as P5) used to show up as 'associated airlines' (not full members) of the alliance under the 'Copa Alliance' brand as they share FFP with CO. I remeber getting status/destination miles and status segments in FB flying both CM and P5. But I haven't been able to figure out how they stand now within *A, and more important, how does BD considers them? I ask this because I have some flights with them in january and I'd hate not getting the miles anywhere :D

If bmi collapses, it will be because of the UK airports' taxes and fees. We all know that they can be several times the "fare". They cover such a large fraction of bmi's routes, and are such a large component of the total ticket price (more so than for their competitors in both respects) that bmi's ability to bear the burden is seriously in doubt. There's a book recently out that's about "tipping points" that focuses on the phenomena of the run up to and beginning of the end, and collapse of systems. I think that bmi will define the tipping point with regard to these onorous taxes and fees. Shame, nee tragedy, that it probably will take the collapse - martyrdom - of a major airline to raise this issue enough that there is real pushback.

They seem to have gone downhill over the last 3 evolutions of card with this being the lowest so far..

Although amonst the postcards in the pack showing the benefits there was still one for Lifetime Gold after 10 years, so at least that has not bit the dust yet.

Also as the black card pack is embossed with the Aiprot idendifiers that BMI fly to, I think they will have their work cut out keep modifiying the list of identifiers.!

Rather than going to Gate 18 last night on arrival from LHR, we parked up at this remote stand and were bussed back to the terminal.

I'm not aware of a large number of bmi charters at the moment - are bmi parking up and lightly used aircraft at MAN as storage is cheaper than LHR?

I've been doing some travel planning, shopping for C tickets between BRU & LHR. BD's fares are quite expensive and BA whilst less expensive is, well, BA...

So I figured I'd check out SN since they are a new DC partner. Turns out they are selling codeshare tickets on BD flights for as low as €120 each way in Business Class. The cheapest BD tickets on the same flights are more than twice the price.

The SN codeshares didn't seem to turn up on any websites but their own, but I hope this might be helpful to those that find themselves in a similar situation. Ironically, because of BD's policy on codeshare credit DC miles will be awarded based on 800 instead of 600 minimum miles per segment.

Was on the BD 124 DUB-LHR yesterday (desperately using up GUVs) and while sitting in the lounge the BD station staff came on alerting customers to the fact that the flight will be VERY late due to the weather situation in LHR. However the pilot wanted everyone on board should a slot become available sooner. We had a slot 2 hours after scheduled departure.

The staff raided the stocks of the lounge and dragged sacks (and I mean sacks) of biscuits, pretzels, juice and water to the aircraft. Once doors were closed the FAs kept plying pax with snacks and free drinks in the back and front. In C the purser thought we should have loads of drinks so the G&Ts were flowing freely with snacks aplenty (they may have stolen all the Tonic from the BRU lounge LOL). Finally made some headway with the slots and arrived a bit less than 2 hours late.

It is this sort of hands on approach that shows that BD can be a very good airline if they want to. ^

I'm in the *A lounge at LHR (better food than No1) and reflecting on my trip to Moscow DME (I'm on my way back to GLA).

Outbound on Monday (BD 891 departs LHR 09:30) was excellent - really attentive and professional cabin crew even though the C cabin was almost full. All the passengers were welcomed by name with a handshake and a chat while we were waiting to taxi and overall very good (including departure AND landing hot towels).

Return flight this morning was a complete contrast (BD 896 departs DME 06:30). There was negligible food (one measly muffin if, like me, you didn't/couldn't eat an omlette), the crew disappeared for almost the whole flight, nothing was cleared away until landing and there were no hot towels at all. Not the fault of the crew that the lighting controls didn't work (couldn't be dimmed) and the entertainment system was kaput but they could have made SOME effort! This in a C cabin with only 5 pax... very lazy, IMHO

The lighting, btw, raises an interesting point. The steward announced after take-off that the system was faulty (effectively, I think, "on" or "off") but surely they should have opted for off given it was pitch black outside?
