On this thread I mentioned that people are not fat due to any fault of their own and that it is caused by low CO2 levels in the body.

Some folks PMed me or asked on the thread to explain more, so here it is.

If you notice what people eat, you will notice that a lot of fat people actually don't eat that much. Put another way, someone who is thin can eat as much or more, or the same or worse foods, and not gain weight.

I observed my wife eating almost nothing, and gaining weight. She was never fat, but it was obvious that a metabolic issue was keeping her from losing weight. Eating less was not an option because she ate very little as it was.

A lot of fat people do eat bad foods. And too much of them. But that isn't really the reason they are fat.

My view of fat people has changed because now I know that people who are fat are fat because they have an underlying metabolic problem, and that is low CO2 levels.

If they raise their CO2 levels, they will lose weight and recover their health.

To summarize the high level, CO2 is not a waste product. It is a precious compound that the body makes and that is stored in various forms in the body -- not as a gas so much as carbamates, bicarbonates, and so forth, in the blood and in the tissues.

The key determinant to how much OXYGEN your tissues recieve is the level of CO2.

Higher CO2 levels mean higher oxygenation levels. So you breathe LESS volume of air, because the oxygen in the blood reaches tissues efficiently. Lower CO2 levels mean you breathe MORE, higher volume of air, and your tissues receive less oxygen overall.

This is basic biochemistry, known as the Bohr effect. So what you want to do is raise your CO2 levels, to oxygenate better and breathe less. But I am getting a little ahead of myself.

You can observe fat people breathing. Many are mouth breathers. Mouth breathing is very poor because you breathe much more volume than you do when you nose breathe.

Also, you can hear fat people's breathing if you stand near them or sometimes across the room. And they are breathing visibly.

It turns out that if your CO2 level is very low, you are susceptible to getting any of 150 diseases:

obesity
IBS
GERD
Asthma
heart disease
high cholesterol
high blood presssure
panic attacks
depression and anxiety
sleep apnea
"mystery" ailments including weird medical problems "the doctors" don't understand

Just to name a few.

If you raise your CO2 levels, those things disappear. So does low CO2 cause those things? I think that is what it means, but there are no clinical studies to support this view. I have seen it again and again, though. Raise your CO2 levels and those issues go away.

I cured my asthma this way, using simple breathing exercises. Years later, I learned a lot more by being coached and taught by the #1 teacher of this in the world. I have since taught some others how to do the exercises.

The bottom line is that simple breathing exercises can make you not fat. You lose weight effortlessly and restore your health. The other problems go away.

This is simple, but not easy. First you have to commit to the exercises, which require 4 sessions of 15 minutes per day.

Second, you encounter cleansing reactions, which are temporary illnesses that you get as your body recovers its health. It is a pardox, but the road to better health has significant speed bumps and these range from mildly uncomfortable to very unpleasant. There is no way to avoid them, and they vary totally from person to person.

Fat is not something that just happens. A person breathes too much, their CO2 is low, and the fat is a defense mechanism that the body uses. I don't know exactly how or why. But as you lose the fat, you have to go through these cleansing reactions.

On the other side, your metabolism will be normal. You won't be hungry all the time. And when you eat, you will feel full and won't want anymore. And your body won't get fat.

NEW YORK — For Citibank credit card holders, there is one way to escape the bank's rate hikes currently under way: Meet a monthly spending requirement.

Those who meet the spending minimum — in some cases $750 a month — will be able to get a rebate on their total interest charges for that month. The rebate could cover some or all of the interest rate hike. Customers also need to make payments on time to qualify for the rebate.

Without giving specifics, Citi said the monthly spending requirements and interest rate hikes will vary depending on the cardholder's credit history.

About half of its customers will be able to erase 50 percent to 100 percent of their rate increases through the rebates. Citi said its rebates will be based on interest charges for an entire balance, not just monthly charges.

Most of the shame lies at the feet of the refs. If they have not already, they should be barred from reffing even kindergarten games.

But there is plenty of shame to go 'round. On Henry for not calling his own foul. On France for not just setting up the rematch rather than hiding behind FIFA. And of course on FIFA for their ridiculous decision.

It's all just such a shame.

Just back from a flying visit to the States and yet again I'm struck by how much obesity is accepted as the norm.
There doesn't appear to be any shame or guilt amongst the morbidly obese, particularly those parents whose children are also grotesquely overweight.
Fat is celebrated everywhere - from the mammoth portions in restaurants to advertising on television.
Even back here in Europe ( which is not without similar problems but not on such a grand scale ) it's almost impossible to watch an American news or business programme without seeing senior executives with jowls flopping over their shirt collars.
Is proper eating even taught in schools or has the battle to beat the bulge been lost already ?

Of course I was interested in visiting lots of places in Europe, and I have mostly done so. There are a lot of places in the developing world that I was interested in visiting, and I haven't done so. I've also visited some interesting places I didn't think much about as a kid.

But otherwise, I remember reading about Bora Bora as a kid. It sounded like the most magnificent paradise ever. A few years ago, I decided to look it up, and it seems as if excessive development might have ruined it. But who knows? I thought of it again just now because I just received a Luxury Link ad for a package on Bora Bora.

What places did you think of visiting as a kid? Have you made it there yet, and did it fulfill your expectations?

Since the mammogram thread seems to have stirred up a hornets' nest, do people here have any comment on the analogous subject for men: prostate cancer screening, where the current first method is blood PSA levels and digital rectal exam.

Recent studies have called the value of current prostate cancer screening into question:

http://www.cancer.gov/newscenter/pre...rostateResults
http://jnci.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/djp310

Part of the problem is that the screening methods are prone to both false positives and false negatives. And false positives tend to lead to more invasive prostate biopsies. But even when prostate cancer is found, there is little consensus on how, or even whether, to treat it, since treatment options have significant disadvantages while many prostate cancers grow slowly enough that men will die of other things first (although some prostate cancers do become aggressive and cause death):

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123906164489395123.html

Of course, urologists and prostate cancer survivors tend to be more in favor of screening than those who conducted the study:

http://www.urologyhealth.org/6578_BrochureR1.pdf
