I'm taking my girls, 12 and 15, to Utah for Christmas week. They want to board, and I will ski. I got the NYC-SLC non stop on Delta with points. I was going to stay at the Hampton in Park City on points. Several friends said that Cottonwood Canyon has much better snow. There are no chain hotels in that area, so no oppurtunity for a free stay. Should I bite the bullet and acutally pay (gasp) for a room in Solitude or Brighton? Is it pratical to stay in SLC and drive daily to ski? I appreciate any suggestions as I have never skied Utah.

A friend of mine got a car part in UT off of Ebay and we are thinking of making a road trip out of it. We would fly to UT and drive back to MA. I did a route that would take us by Arches National Park and Colorado National Monument. We would be able to go to each for a couple of hours. Are these worth it to see in December? Anyone have any other suggestions for parks/monuments that are nice this time of year? Dinosaur? How about if we went south to NM?

We are planning a trip next 4th July (this is our only option for dates) and hear that Yellowstone is really crowded in the summer, but of course this is subjective. We have been to many Natl Parks, usually in summer, so are used to the crowds at places like Zion, Grand Canyon... is Yellowstone worse? Thanks!

I also have one of those certificates from Hilton for a free night. Too bad it doesn't qualify for the Biltmore.

Any suggestions?

Hi folks,

My parents are flying SFO-PDX-AMS with a 55 minute layover at PDX.

SFO-PDX is on Horizon Air 2500 (arrival 1145) & PDX-AMS (dep 1240) is NW 764 (Delta Metal).

They are around 65 years of age - but in fairly good shape. They are not frequent flyers so tight layovers always get them worried.

So the Q? is, at PDX, would you consider a 55 minute layover (transfer from Horizon Air arrival Terminal to NW/Delta departure) a tight one? or do you think it should be comfortable?

Any hints / pointers are appreciated!

Thanks!

Hello All,

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up:

... Winter Storm Warning in effect from midnight tonight to 6 PM
MDT Thursday...

The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Winter Storm
Warning for heavy snow... which is in effect from midnight tonight
to 6 PM MDT Thursday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in
effect.

Rain showers will develop this evening and then change to snow
after midnight. Snow will continue across the area into Thursday.
Snow may become heavy at times from late tonight through Thursday.
Snowfall accumulations will range from 8 to 14 inches with higher
amounts possible in some areas. Gusty north to northeast winds
will produce areas of blowing snow and reduced visibilities from
Wednesday through Thursday.
*************************************

As of now, looks to be an all-day Wednesday event. As many of you know, DEN has really ramped up their snow program, but could still be a big headache for anyone connecting.
