Instead of going to the AC, are there any restaurants with interesting or reasonable food?

Alternatively, I could just sleep... I don't think I have enough time to check in a hotel, so any recommendations for a quiet place where I can take a nap? Is one of the Admirals Clubs (I'd have to buy a day pass) a good place to sleep?

What I have found is really out of date by several years so I am wondering if anyone has some recent info on the restaurants that can't be missed. One of us is a non seafood diner but we all love well spiced foods. We are mainly a one glass of wine diners. We will be at the JW so any restaurants nearby would be great. Thanks

Passing through MEM a few weeks ago, I was fascinated by the voice of the gentleman doing the standard recorded "no smoking in the airport" announcement. Very genteel southern; calming...props to MEM for utilizing some local flavor for their announcements.

Later, I heard what sounded like the same voice, except this time he was doing final boarding calls for flights. It seemed like the regular gate agents would do the regular boarding announcements, then turn it over to him for the final boarding call. At first I thought it was again just a pre-recorded announcement, but later I heard the same voice doing gate change announcements, making me think that somewhere in the administrative offices of MEM is a gentleman whose sole job is to make concourse-wide announcements.

Does anyone know the scoop on this? Does MEM have an "official" airport announcer?
