Looks like Airtran is matching Southwest's and Midwest's double points to or from MKE. Valid only on non-stop flights to or from MKE and also valid on one-way flights.

AirTran vs. DL out of ATL

I'm trying to decide if I should ditch DL and jump to AirTran for travel to and from various cities out of ATL. I'll try my best to define some criteria, but I'd love to hear from those that fly out of ATL often on AirTran about their experiences.

I don't really care about fares - I fly for business so I'm not paying. In general, however, if I book 3 weeks ahead of time the fares seem to be similar (within $20 or so). I generally fly the same place every week for several weeks at a time. Right now that's Columbus, OH. Flight times are about the same on Monday morning / Thursday evening. On Delta I'm earning 1000 EQM (or 2 segments) per week. I'm only Silver Elite so my bonus gets me 250 miles / week.

On DL I've given up hope of ever being upgraded. At check-in I'm usually something like 49 of 60 on the upgrade list. At least 1/3 of the plane boards with the elite members. Platinum Elites are stuck in middle seats in the back row of coach. How is the upgrade experience on AirTran out of Atlanta? Are there just as many business travelers with elite status?

It will take 5 weeks to earn elite status on AirTran, so I would only be forfeiting 10 segments towards my Delta status for next year - but I'm wondering if it's even worth it. I'd like to go to Hawaii on our next vacation, but AirTran doesn't fly there. I'm sure we'll have other uses for the free tickets, though. If the upgrade situation is the same as DL, I don't see a reason to switch.

Has anyone else run into this?

Is MKE set up for easy curbside skycap bag drop off?

We are flying MKE-BWI. There will be 1 adult and two kids. I will pre-pay the fees for 6 bags as each of us have 2 bags.

I will do this when I do online check-in.

Can we drop off the bags with the skycap curbside?

Will they have a record that we pre-paid for all the bags?

I would much rather do this than take all the bags from the rental car return.

Does MKE has skycap curbside check-in for Airtran, and if so, can you get the car right up to the skycap area as I can't leave it unattended for even a minute due to the 2 small kids.

I realize that there are no vouchers awarded any more, right? But when i go to book an award online, it gives me an option to submit my request online.

once you submit your request, what happens? Does it create a quasi voucher?

I have expiring A+ rewards credits that i would like to extend for 8 days until i need them for travel.

Daily ATL-SFO Daytime Flight Canceled?

I've been planning a trip from ATL to SFO for next February. However, now that I'm ready to book, the morning flight between ATL-SFO and the returning afternoon flight between SFO-ATL is no longer listed. The only flight between the two cities leaves ATL in the evening and is a red-eye returning from SFO. I've checked multiple dates and this seems to be the only flight between the ATL-SFO. Anyone know if this is a permanent cancelation or perhaps this is just a scheduling glitch that will correct in a few days? I called AirTran and they couldn't' tell me anything I hadn't already figured out.

FL turns up the heat in MKE, Skywest deal...

I used to fly ATL<->SEA direct but my last few searches show it as a 1-stop via MKY? Anyone know if this is a seasonal route or do my search skills need help? If the former, when is it supposed to resume?

Elite renewal came w/2 drink coupons!

Hi all,

Yesterday I received mail from AirTran saying I had successfully renewed my A+ Elite status (this showed up in my online account a week and a half ago, roughly). Included in the envelope were a new Elite card with an expiration date in 2011 (otherwise identical to my current card), a letter listing some A+ Elite benefits (also said that "less than 2% of AirTran Airways customers ever experience" these benefits), ads for their credit card and for Teleflora, and two drink coupons - the first I have ever seen or heard of from FL.

I did a search here on FT, and found one mention of drink coupons on AirTran from 2004. Has anyone here now seen a drink coupon from AirTran?

P.S. - The coupons expire at the end of 2010.
