Hi All,

I would likely have to be consider to creating new South African Airways forums. Because it was very good numerous of the thread on OME&AFF forums. So it would likes to be proposal to have a creating newest South African Airways forums instead of put into the OME&AFF forums. It will have to be separately the forums. If you would likes to be in negotiations deal from Talkboard to be approval. It will have to take the advantage of it and I would agreed with you if they will be greatly appreciated it for our contribution. Its should have to be console up and it won't have any issue problems onto SAA forums. It will be great opportunity to see newest SAA forums. Thanks all.

My friends and I are making plans to attend portions of the 2012 Olympics. I've just spent some time on FT trying to find relevant information for planning. Unfortunately, search isn't very helpful (searching entire posts gives too many results; searching subject lines excludes some).

Items of interest to me would be information on where to stay, which events are easier/harder to get tickets for, methods of getting tickets, tips on timing of arrivals/departures with events, things to do when not at events, etc. Obviously postings about ticket lotteries and other types of "act now" warnings would be good to have.

Currently it seems most Olympic travel related threads are in their appropriate country's travel section (e.g., Vancouver 2010 info is scattered in the Canada forum) or in CommunityBuzz (like this thread).

Since the Olympics are only held every 2 years, I imagine a forum solely dedicated to the Olympics might not be busy enough. There may also be world championships or other international sporting events (e.g., World Cup, Wimbledon, Ryder Cup, Tour de France, etc.) which would have similar types of concerns. A quick look at http://wikitravel.org/en/International_sporting_events shows the type of information I'd like to see on FT for some of those events.

What is the current procedure (if any) of moderators to reply to these warnings?

Since joining FT, I feel like I have found a real home here. Regular folks on FT feel like a real community - and often willing to help each others out in times of need or in times of needing advice and support... However, despite the community camaraderie, "membership" in FT right now still mainly describes a sign-up on an open web forum. And most FT are quite anonymous while one is traveling. However, I want to be able to help a fellow FT during an IRROP and other times should a FT like to share advice, or just welcome good stimulating conversation, or to network.

Therefore, would does everyone (esp the FT moderators) think about forming some formal membership or association for veteran/regular members of FT? Something that would symbolize a formal trustworthy seal of FT affiliation? (beyond just FT luggage tags that anyone can order, and beyond something that any 1st time FT joe-schmo who never contributes to FT forums would be able to get).... something that represents that a person is a regular and loyal contributor to the FT community (as designated by either community vote or approval of FT Moderators).

I'm not proposing any sort of 'elite' membership, but rather a FT 'good citizen' member or 'active community' member.

I think the FT essence camaraderie has grown strong enough to actually take on a true CULTURE. And I hope others might be interested in forming a somewhat more tangible symbol of FT loyalty and camaraderie beyond the digital world.
Welcome your thoughts.

Eric

p.s. interim proposal:

1) Member dubbed a 'Flyertalk Good Citizen' member

2) GC Members should have a minimum of 6 months online FT registration

3) GC Members should have a minimum of 100 posts.

4) New GC members should be endorsed by at least 1 or 2 other long-standing FT member with >200 posts, or by a FT moderator.

5) GC member should not have any blacklist status on any forums (e.g. for inappropriate activity on CC)

6) GC members will be able to carry some portable travel identification - like perhaps a special metallic luggage tag and/or a sturdy pin/broach/badge.

7) GC membership should be free (or only nominal to defray the cost of printing any membership cards/badges/tags).

Again, the purpose is to recognize and reward good citizenship on FT, and allow good citizens and active community members at airports to recognize each other, help each other, and network with each other.

that the TalkBoard recommend that the 'Latin/Central America' forum be renamed the 'Central America' forum.

This vote will close on Nov 6, 09 at 6:12 am or after all TalkBoard members have registered their vote, whichever comes first.

Per the TalkBoard Guidelines:
The purpose of posting voting topics in the public TalkBoard Topics forum is to solicit member feedback on any motions that are up for a vote and to allow for comments after a vote is made. It is at the sole discretion of the individual TalkBoard members whether they choose to post in the public discussion thread, there being no requirement to do so.

So while there is already a thread and discussion on this general topic and it is safe to assume that TalkBoard members have reviewed that thread, this thread is about this specific motion. Please feel free to post questions, comments or any other sort of feedback.

A motion shall pass if two-thirds of TalkBoard members participating in that vote vote ‘yes.’
