Anybody up for a mini-meet on December 27th Sunday or 28th Monday?

I realize its Christmas weekend and you probably have better things to do, but I'm just putting it out there.

I couldn't get an award flight the same day I return from Australia so I'll have about 30 hours to spend in L.A. since I'm in no particular rush to get home.

I was even thinking a side trip to Tijuana for a few hours if nothing else materializes.

DEN "Up in the Air" Screening & Holiday Gathering

As I watched another trailer for "Up in the Air" today, I realized this is definitely a movie I want to see in theatres (rather than wait for it to come to IFE as I usually do). Then realized it would be MUCH better if I saw it with others who would get the inside jokes and the pursuit of status and points.

So, who here in DEN (or COS or the surrounds) would like to get together sometime after December 14 (it opens on the 11th, but I'm doing a MR through the 13th ;) ) to watch "Up in the Air" and have some food and drinks in the spirit of the holidays?

Have we heard ourselves ?

Take a look in any forum on here and listen to the whinging whining complaining done by us all (me included). Yes, travel is a pain, hotels are a pain and being away from home all the time is a pain, but imagine life without it, and without the benefits of business or first class travel, hotel loyalty programmes and the like, and THEN complain about NOT getting upgraded (it's a bonus, not always a right).

It's getting more like a creche than most creches !

The worst behaved people in airports on aeroplanes and in hotels are the spoilt children who demand recognition and extras just because they do this all the time.

It's a time for sharing - lounge access, holiday stories, some kind of airport lounge nog, tips for getting bumped....

If you're traveling between 21 Nov (Friday before Thanksgiving) and 1 Dec (Monday after Thanksgiving) and want to try to meet up with some of your fellow FlyerTalkers, post your availability here!

Houston MovieDO - Up in the Air opening weekend

Howdy! I would like to propose a FT movieDO to correlate with the opening weekend of the movie Up In The Air.

I'm thinking the first Saturday that the movie is open, with theater TBD, but preferably in North Houston area or Woodlands, followed by drinks/snacks at a local eatery.

I'll be calling around to the theaters to find out who's getting the movie and when.

Who's in???? :D

SFO December 15!

It's the most wonderful time of the year...yep, time for my mega-segment run on UA. Yes, I actually keep 1P on segments. :D I am spending the night in San Francisco on Dec 14, and don't fly out until 4:35pm on the 15th. Given that I will be logging five segments on the 14th, I'm definitely not going to be up for going out that night - but in the spirit of mileage/segment running, I would love to meet up for lunch on Dec 15 with any Bay-area FTers, or any FTers with a long enough midday layover at SFO! Anyone interested?

We would like to have an Indian dinner . Anyone up for dinner in the city ( we will not have a car and are staying at the Grand Hyatt) that evening around 7pm?

8th Annual London Presidents (US) Weekend Do: February 12-15, 2010

Coming off the high of the best-ever FT Do - the StarMegaDo - am in the mood to get back to Europe & see some more of my fellow FTers in a fun setting, so yup - announcing the 8th Annual London Presidents (US) Weekend Do.

History

Feb '03 was the first-ever FT event I attended. I was going to London for my Annual Birthday/Presidents Weekend (Prez Weekend ia 3-day bank holiday in America) get-away, and noticed that there was a London Do that weekend organized by wingnut. Having really only discovered/started reading FT threads the month before, I was quite excited about meeting some other people who travelled.

I remember arriving at Wagamama's a bit nervous about meeting other FTers, and the hostess saying - 'oh you're with the group that doesn't know each other'. LOL... Not quite so nervous after that.

I had the pleasure that night of meeting wingnut, sweetwillie & mrssweetwillie (aka judi), letiole, techgirl, lala, amongst others, and a tradition was born.

It's also a nice weekend to start racking up re-qualification of status on airlines/hotels & take advantage of cheaper winter airfares.

Date: Feb 12-15, 2010

Location: London England

Happenings:

FRIDAY, FEB 12th

Day free for shopping, museums, sleeping, etc, for those who are in town. Those flying to the UK that night will eat, drink & be merry on the planes.

5:00pm-9:00ish Slug&Lettuce on Dean Street in Soho for drinkies & nibbles

Options for those who want to grab a bite to eat/dinner,here are other 'FT-recommended' options for Friday that are within 5 minutes walk of Slug&Lettuce. Cafe LaZeez (anyone who was at London MegaDo 2006, this was the Sat night place); Marsala Zone (I like Cafe LZ better, but MZ has been a FT staple); Pizza Express (no they don't just serve pizza & they actually have decent wine); Wagamama's (if by chance it doesn't get chosen for Sat). Busabi eathai (Thai; similar to Waga's) & Y Ming (Chinese).

SATURDAY, FEB 13th

Day open to sleep in, go to museums, shopping, restaurants, matinee theatre.

capritz78 is thinking of doing a walk with London Walks on Saturday This is London - Highlights Tour 145 pm, so if anyone is interested in joining him, post to the thread.

4:00-6:00pmish Ye Grapes Pub in Shepherds Market (5-minute walk from Green Park tube stop on the Picadilly line)

6:30ish Dinner TBD but in Soho.

After dinner - pubs, clubs, casinos, or back to hotels to drink and/or sleep; to each their own.

SUNDAY, FEB 14th

Day open to sleep in, go to museums, shopping, restaurants, matinee theatre if any are open. It's also Valentine's Day for those who want to make a special day/evening of it.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15th

For those still in London, day open to sleep in, go to museums, shopping, restaurants, pubs, bars, afternoon tea, etc. Possibly meet up for lunch, drinks, and/or dinner.
