For me, there are worse things that I find TRULY offensive. Case in point is a study team's recommendation to CUT our (women in our 40s) access to mammograms, to limit mammograms to every other year when you're in your 50s and as well as recommendations for women NOT to do breast self examinations. Read OMNI today to see what the majority of men have to say about it. Now to me, that's offensive. But maybe I'm the only woman who thinks it. At least the American Cancer Society is slamming it.

Seems to me that the same people who view women as "gabbers" are the same ones who think it is a waste for women to do self breast examinations and have mammograms annually starting at age 40 but instead wait for annual exams until age 60.

There is an insulting article that has been linked on the front page of Flyer Talk for several days now, called, "Seven Travel Tips for Women Flying Alone." The tips assume that the solo woman flyer has no brain and no travel experience whatsoever. There is absolutely no value in the piece at all. It is a waste of fluff with the final tip number seven being the ultimate insult to women, Don't Gab. I don't understand why this link was posted in the first place, and I don't understand why it has been allowed to remain.

If we were giving advice to male flyers, we would already assume that they know how to dress, how much to drink, and not to "gab." This is really offensive. I'm not saying read it if you haven't already. It doesn't deserve further exposure. It just needs to be replaced by an article that might actually contain some information.

Round hair brush for travel?

I have a bob style haircut and have taken to using a rather large round hair brush to blow dry my ends in, as they curve out naturally. The brush can be a bit of a pain to pack as it takes up as much space as a pair of flats.
Recommendations other than getting a perm/straightened or bringing a smaller diameter brush (used to use a smaller brush but it doesn't look as good)? Unless someone knows of a travel flat iron that is smaller than a large round brush.

I'm usually a 1.5 bag carry-on traveler. Just a carry-on bag and my purse/briefcase so the space matters.

Thanks ladies!
