SXSW2016: Travel hacking meetup
I'm very excited to announce that I will be hosting a Meetup at SXSW in Austin (March of 2016) on our most beloved topics:
How to earn miles and points via credit cards and other means, which cards are best for you based on your earn AND burn habits, and spending those miles and points.
This is going to be a lot of fun and I am looking forward to a nice mix of attendees, from Flyertalkers to complete newbies and everyone in-between.

MSPeconomist, South By Southwest is one of the biggest festivals in the country each year for interactive (web/mobile/tech), film, and music.
The meetup I'm running will be a blast for anyone already attending SXSW, but if you're not already going, it wouldn't (IMHO) be worth buying a badge just for it as it's quite a pricey festival. I work in interactive and bought a badge two years ago and it was a blast.
For more information, see sxsw.com or for specific registration info https://cart.sxsw.com/?_ga=1.2541415...557.1445276243

SXSW2016: Travel hacking meetup
Last year nothing really opened near downtown until the week before. The room blocks even for speakers are extremely scarce and still way overpriced compared to normal rates. So I don't think they are really holding anything back - but of course if people cancel or they can't sell all there rooms at $600 a night some may open last minute.

Just wanted to post a quick "format" update. Rather than giving a presentation, this session will run as a MeetUp. What that means, basically, is it will function like a FlyerTalk "DO".
All attendees interested in Travel Hacking will come together to mix and mingle in this session and I will be on hand to offer pointers.
If there is a big enough turnout, we may do it as a more formal "session" in 2017.

FYI the Hampton Inn and Suites adjacent to the convention center now has some rooms available for HHonors points during SXSW (50k/night, 5th night free) though I believe they require a 5 night stay. 14 day cancellation policy.
